Frank GiardinaGameday Saturday, Sept. 24, 3:30 p.m televised by CBS College Sports Site: Huntington, WV. Joan Edwards Stadium Coach: Frank Beamer (25th year) record of 198-95-2 in Blacksburg Scouting the Hokies Quarterback is an intriguing spot for the Hokies after the departure of athletic Tyrod Taylor. Logan Thomas, a 6’6” athlete and converted tight end, is expected to be the man. Also back is running back David Wilson. He was one of two running backs to top 150 yards in a 52-10 win over Marshall two years ago. He also placed in the NCAA outdoor track championships finishing 6th in the triple jump. There should be room to run as the offensive line has four starters returning. The wide receiver corps is also experienced with the top four receives returning led by Jarrett Boykin. Marshall must stop the Hokies running game. In the last three meetings between the two teams, the Hokies have run for just under 1,100 yards. Defensively the Hokies are hopeful of being improved. Last year they allowed more than 20 points per game but return all-American candidates in safety Eddie Whitley and linebacker Bruce Taylor, as well as cornerback Jayron Hosley.
