HUNTINGTON -- Paul Ivkovich, the director of strength and conditioning for men's basketball and Olympic sports at Marshall University, accepted a similar position at the University of Dayton.

Ivkovich will work with Dayton men's and women's basketball teams and the Flyer golf teams.

"His philosophy of high-intensity training will be a perfect fit for our system and what we believe to be the most effective way to train basketball players at an elite level," said Dayton men's basketball head coach Archie Miller.

"We are committed to the total development of our student-athletes and Paul will play a critical role in the daily process of improvement that each will make. He is a high-energy person who takes great pride in executing his role."

Ivkovich was at Marshall for one year.

  • Dang it!!!!  I wish we could keep people around for more than 1 or 2 years!!!

  • Im thrilled with him leaving . After watching some of the Herd games , I thought it was quite obvious conditioning , or lack thereof , was a big problem .

I didn't see that in our basketball team. I thought they seemed well conditioned.

  • Many of the players wilted in Orlando (somewhat forgivable considering Benedict Donald had the heat turned up to about 95 degrees; a home court advantage similar to the old Boston Garden).

  • It's college athletics.  There is turn over.  Not a problem.

I know this guy was only here for a year, but how many of us on here have looked at a guy at our employer and said, "that guy has been here for 25 years!  Can you imagine that?"

Don't worry about it.  I'm sure that, just like Doc, TH has a replacement in mind or someone he can get on speed dial.

"When you take that field today, you've got to lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you've got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows. And if you do that, if you do that, we cannot lose."

  • It was implied a few days ago in an article.  We should have lots of candidates.
