ANDREW RAMSPACHERThe Herald-DispatchHUNTINGTON -- On paper, the scores were lopsided, tough-to-swallow and embarrassing -- even when you consider the little chance they had to begin with.In 1988, the Louisiana Tech football program was playing at the NCAA Division I-AA level. The Bulldogs were still a year away from going I-A, but you would hardly know it from their schedule.Cupcakes were not on the menu as Louisiana Tech battled the likes of Houston, Florida State and Texas A&M. In an ugly way, it fell and fell hard. 60-0 to Andre Ware's Cougars. 66-3 to Deion Sanders and the Seminoles. 56-17 to the Aggies. It was a 4-7 season that might have given the doubters enough ammo to question the future move up in competition.
