Hello Herd:
Longtime admirer of MU - I am married to 1 of your alumni finest. A long time ago my wife was going to toss away a old sweatshirt and some tickets she had from when she went to school in the early 90's. I have a Marshall 1 - AA National Championship sweatshirt that is in perfect shape and 2 tickets from the 1993 1-AA Championship game, as well as another ticket from 1991 1-AA game against New Hampshire (not sure if this was Championship game or a playoff game) and an old photo of a Herd player from around the same time frame.
I kept this stuff for many years since I knew someone from the Herd's fanbase should have these items instead of just throwing them out. I am finally getting around to doing something with these items -- I would like to send it to either a moderator, Marshall Hall of Fame Cafe or whatever you suggest?? My wife is from just outside the Huntington area and we make it up almost every year for the Holidays but we have never had the time to take a football game in although I have been around the campus and driven around the stadium numerous times.
I have met many good people from the Tri-State area and wish you nothing but the best for the future, just wish we could have made it up for a football game or hoops game.
I also would like to state that the 1 single time we did make it up for Thanksgiving or maybe a few days before was when We are Marshall first came out. I saw the movie with my wife and some of her relatives in a small theatre near JC Pennys in Kentucky close to Ironton. I consider that 1 of the more special moments of my life and I was honored to watch that with some of your fans and undoubtedly some relatives of some of the crash victims. Your fanbase is super special and you have an admirer here. I come from a small town and I know the difference and could feel the sadness one minute and the pride and joy the next.
I've rooted for Marshall in the MAC Championship game against Western Michigan when my wife wanted to turn the tv off and I would not let her and lo and behold, the Herd came back. I've stopped her again from turning the tv off and watched another epic win and comeback against ECU many years ago and even sweated to death in Gainseville to watch the Herd play UF.
All the Best,
Blitzenknight
