By Gary FauberAssistant Sports EditorBECKLEY — Among the battles for Marshall during preseason camp was the competition for the punter job.If the first game is any indication, the Thundering Herd have their man in Tyler Williams. The true freshman from Fort Wayne, Ind., averaged 51.2 yards on four punts in last Saturday’s 69-34 loss to West Virginia.“I had some good snaps from (true freshman Matt) Cincotta,” Williams said, assessing his debut. “One of them I could have got a little more hangtime, which would have helped our guys out. But it was a good punt, and it gave our guys time to get down there and get (WVU kick returner) Tavon Austin. I thought I did a good job, for the most part, of giving our guys time to get down there.”Among the highlights was a 39-yarder that pinned the Mountaineers on their own 6-yard line. WVU scored on the drive, but at least it was not given a short field.
