  • With all the talk about vinyl I'm itching for some new bands to get into. Seems like I've been listening to the same old same old for too long now. I'm posting some videos of several bands I've discovered from hanging out on several guitar forums. I'm looking for stuff comparable to these but feel free to post whatever new-ish, non mainstream bands you can think of.

I hope someone else finds this stuff interesting.

    Here we go...

    HALESTORM

If a cross between Shania Twain and Pat Benetar mated with a mix of Joe Elliot from Def Leppard and Tom Kiefer from Cinderella

  • You know me, my tastes get pretty extreme, but some stuff you may like.

The new Baroness album Yellow and Green took a few spins, but it quickly became one of my favorites of the year. These guys were in a horrific bus accident over the Summer and are lucky to be alive. Hopefully they all make a full recovery and get back to making music.

Royal Thunder is another band that I'm really into right now. I discovered them as a recommendation on Spotify and immediately liked them. Pissed me off when I discovered that they were in Huntington a week prior to me discovering them. Here are a couple of live videos.

Torche is another one. The new album Harmonicraft is kinda poppy, but I really like it. Went and saw them back in October on my birthday. Great show.

This one is from an earlier album, but it absolutely destroyed live. One of the best live songs I've ever witnessed.

This is a bit more metallic, but from my favorite album of the year. Dawnbringer - Into The Lair of the Sun God

Finally Orchid. I absolutely love this band. Definite Sabbath worship, but still original.

And of course, local legend, John Lancaster.
