Was this on some kind of overpass? If so, expect the interstate to be closed for a good long while. We had a massive fire beneath an underpass here in Philly a few years ago. The steel had become so hot from the fire that it was deemed unsafe (it became brittle). They had to reengineer the entire span, have the steel made (not an easy feat now that steel mills in the US are few and far between) and then start construction. Once construction started they worked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to get it done. But, I-95 was still closed for over 9 months in both directions. :o
