  • IMO if our team is at least equal to last years team we will have a better record based on the fact that our schedule will be weaker. And yes that includes our crappy D.

Non-Conference - two worse opponents and two equal opponents
2012 Ohio > 2013 Ohio - no more Tettleton, thank God
    WCU = Gardner Webb
Purdue > Miami (OH) - Obviously Purdue is better
WVU = Virginia Tech - both teams slightly above average

East - Maybe a little tougher this year but nothing overwhelming
UCF > FIU - our hated rival is gone but so is a team we seem to never beat
Memphis < La Tech - I will miss Memphis, they were a sure win
2012 UAB = 2013 UAB - never been to a bowl game and won't go next year either
2012 ECU = 2013 ECU - under McNeill they will hang around 6-6
2012 So. Miss < 2013 So. Miss - they can't be worse next year

    West - All worse opponents
Houston > No. Texas - North Texas was an awful addition to C-USA
    Tulsa > UTEP - duh
Rice > Tulane - I love me some Tulane, they never beat us, EVER.

Anything less than 8-4 and second in the east should result in a new head coach. If our defense "only" gives up 30 points a game we should win 10 or more. I know that sounds crazy but this is the weakest schedule we have faced since Bob Pruett was here.

  • Tettleton and Blankenship both will be back next year for OU and this years WVU team would have smoked VTech, especially if they would have played early in the season.

At the OU/MU game I asked some Bobcats fans if he was a senior, they said yes. I am pissed right now. Anyway I maintain that 8-4 is a must.

As for WVU being better than VT, what do you base that on? They both went 7-6, each teams best win was over a 9 win team, VT narrowly beat the Big East co champ in a bowl, WVU got crushed by a Big East co champ in a bowl, and WVU beat 3 bowl teams while VT beat 4 bowl teams. If anything VT might be better.

  • I am pretty sure that if we "only" gave up 30 per game in 2012, we would have won 10, since OU was the only team to hold us under 30.

Almost everything in your post was debatable except the quote shown above.

  • If we go 1-3 or 0-4 in the first 4 games

    or

if at any time during the season it becomes impossible to win 8 regular season games...

then we should fire the HC on the spot and turn it over to the DC or OC (whichever is performing the best at the time).

That way we can determine if either of those 2 show themselves capable of being HC material. If not, start looking for someone outside the staff for a new HC.

If we win 8 games or better, we have to keep doc. While 8 wins with our new schedule won't be super impressive imho, I'm not good with letting him go unless 2 or more losses are due to obvious stupidity on his part.

    No.........more............excuses.

  • 10 wins is doable with a better defense.

  • The schedule won't be any easier in 2013 than it was in 2012. I am glad that the sure losses in WVU and UCF are off the schedule though. VT is the only game on the schedule that is a sure loss next year. However in 2014 or 2015 when Charlotte and Old Dominion start playing D1 football, we should really start to see this team pile up some wins.

VT is a "sure loss?"  You're not so smart.  When your O scores an average of 40 per game, there are no sure losses, especially when your weakness is defense...and the other team's CLEAR weakness is offense, as is the case with VT.  I think the 2012 team might have beaten VT 2012.

  • Sad part is that DOC is just not going to wake up in bed some morning and be a better HC.  He is bad.  Once a ugly girl always a ugly girl.

Personally, I consider Doc to be more of a fat chick. If he works hard he can lose that unsightly extra baggage.

Yeah.  That's right.  I think he'll get there...good thing the schedule is %^&* for years to come...will give him more leeway to learn, but learn he will.  Couple that with good recruiting, and "we'll be fine."

  • I'm with Chuck Landon on this. I'm not getting my hopes up or drinking the green kool-aid this year. Marshall lost to UAB last year. Anything can happen.

  • Where did the schedule come from? I can't find it online... If we play a quality brand of football against this schedule we should be division, if not title, contenders in CUSA.

  • I think this is what the line-up looks like:

    vs Miami(OH)
    vs FCS team
    at Ohio
    at VT
    vs USM
    at FIU
    at Utep
    vs UAB
    at Tulane
    vs La. Tech
    at NT
    vs ECU
