Huntington, W.Va.—The Marshall softball team finished off its third-straight conference sweep with a 6-1 victory against Memphis in the series’ final game on Saturday, March 30 at Dot Hicks Field. This is the first time the Thundering Herd has swept three teams consecutively in Conference USA.

Marshall has continued to extend its three, record-setting winning streaks with nine-consecutive wins in conference, 13-straight defeats in regular season play and 20-successive victories at the “Dot.”

Both teams were errorless in game three of the series. The Herd registered three hits for six runs, while the Tigers recorded one run off of six hits. Marshall left two stranded runners on base, while Memphis left seven. Four of Marshall’s six tallied runs were scored by two-run homers.

  • The Herd Softball Team is on a roll at this time.  Won 3 Straight sweeps
of C-USA series and has a undefeated streak at The DOT, which is nice.

Andi (pronounced ON - Dee) Williamson is the work horse of the team,
taking the mound on every C-USA start.  She's turned into another Cristy
Waring (MU Hall Of Fame Pitcher).  Andi can really pitch.

You want to see some power, the Herd has it when they are ON....and they
are ON now.  They have some physically RBOG (as John Southerland would
say....Really Big Ole Girls).  ;D  And they are solid and strong.....can really
    hammer the ball.

Matched with the speed at the top of the line-up makes for an exciting
game.  Get the Nits & Nats on base and bring up the Lions & Tigers.  ;D

Got some developing pitching on the staff....Vance should be a good one.
And she's a RBOG (in the best sense.)  Talk about imposing on the mound.
Reminds me of Sara Gulla in stature.

Got a few more home series at The DOT to see this team...especially with
the weather getting better.  Probably one of the best teams on campus at
    this time.

    Worth a look see.
Retired 10 years early to follow Herd sports.
Those 10 years have been marvelous.
