  • I attended the '79 festivities since I finished in summer '78 on May 9 (the day before my birthday) at the Civic Center (it will NEVER be the Big Sandy whatever)...the speaker was a relatively unknown senator by the name of Joe Biden...

  • I was there that day.  Hence my user name.  During Biden's speech, I remember thinking that the Senator from Delaware was going places.

  • Never forget at the 1984 ceremony when President Dale N. had us stand and give thanks to our loved ones who supported us through the college years.  We all stood up and gave a great ovation to our parents and friends.  Very emotional

  • Did not attend the ceremony. Never cared for stuff like that.

  • I graduated in December 2010. Mario Harvey and Michael Janac were also graduating in the ceremony. Janac wrote his name down as Michael "Waka Flaka" Janac and the lady announced him as such leading to laughter throughout the crowd in the Henderson Center.

  • I wouldn't have missed my graduation day for the world. I didn't graduate until 28 years after HS graduation which made it even more special. Unfortunately since I never attended MU, only a lifelong fan, my commencement ceremony was in the Miami Convention Center in Miami, FL.

  • I was first of all my ancestors to graduate from college.  My only memory is how proud my mother and grandmother were.  Everything else is a blur.

  • Unfortunately it was too long ago. I probably thought about whether or not I was going to go to Southeast Asia. :o

  • I didn't go and I regret it.  I was a mid year graduate, just getting settled in a new town and just didn't do it.  The thing is that you don't go to graduation for yourself, you go for your parents and the people who helped you along life's road.  Didn't realize it then...

  • I was also the first in my extended family to graduate. Had two aunts and mother in attendance. My father who strongly encouraged me to attend a university passed away the summer before my last year.

I recall relief from the grind, was working (a lot) while attending, took five years and a change of major.

But when I think of my mother and two aunts faces, I smile.

That was A LOOONG time ago, 1968. Like TRS was thinking about Viet Nam and other stuff. Was also engaged. Luckily a lot of things happened good for me, thanks to Mother Marshall.

  • I graduated December 2011. Dr. Kopp was recognizing some special graduates. One was a war Veteran that graduated at the top of the class. Last he asked Vinny to stand up and honored him. The special speaker is a professor at Marshall and she spoke for roughly an hr about bacon. I am sure her speech had more meaning to it but really all I remember is bacon. What made it special to me was going back to school in January of 2010 and needing 110 hours to graduate. I worked by butt off for two years and completed my degree.

  • Uncle Sam had me at Ft Knox KY going through a leadership course. Missed my graduation and my wife's graduation as well.  Oh welll, they said NO you cannot go back. That is what I remember. I was on a night land navigation course. That was my graduation night.

  • I didn't walk.

I didn't graduate with the group I was originally with because I got hired on early in my field, took a summer off, that summer ended up lasting a couple of years. Then went back and got my degree later.

  • When I graduated I was already working. At my son's graduation they didn't have enough chairs for the graduates. Byron Leftwich got up and gave his sit to a fellow alumni.

  • I remember my family being there and the Shenendoah rifle my parents got me for graduation.  Love that rifle.  I don't recall much of the party we had that evening!   ;D
