  • Rap music today is far from what it once was but I've been listening to a group called The Redland. They had a song in NBA2k11 and that's how they got noticed. Their songs actually have meaning and are pretty good I think unlike most of the mainstream artists that you hear about all the time.

If you have the time and are in to rap music check them out.

Also their music is clean for the most part, I've only heard them cuss 1 time ad I've heard alot of their songs.

  • I've never been much of a fan of RAP but that's mainly due to sampling, lyrical content or a lack of musical creativity. Some stay comping the same chord and beat the entire song. I clicked the link and listened to a few from The Redland and they seem to be on another level stylistically.

Now all that needs done is for you to put a HYPE video and their music together before gameday  ;D

I hate rap, period! It's been a big time turn off, because of the negative "ghetto sh*t" it portrays.  You guys should hang out with me sometime. I'll take you to the hood and you can see what I'm talking about. To many Rap songs are about being a th*g gangster! that degrades women and promotes violence.. I was listening to some Rap with a few fellas, and every other word was derogatory. It's just not for me..

Damn, you must live in Anacostia... :o

Well that's fine, people like different things and I respect that. But these guys don't make that type of music, they try to be different and talk about different issues in our world today. Not like the mainstream music you hear on the radio.

They actually gave me permission to use their songs when I contacted them so I might use them on some highlight videos for after this season.

I'd like to listen to the group you are talking about. What is their name? Don't get it twisted marshallz13, I use to dig Rap when it first came out. The music was clean and good. I just have a problem with the "negative gangster rap"...

But you can find more of their songs by looking for them on YouTube.

  • Not really a rap fan, as metal consumes 99% of my listening, but I like Dope Nixon, 7L & Esoteric, Outer Space, Jedi Mind Tricks, Army of Pharaohs, and though they are DJ's with guest rappers, I really like Snowgoons. All of the artists I listed are associated with each other, so that's why I like all of them.

I rarely listen rap though, but when I do it's the above.

I do love Motown, but believe it or not Philly International records, I thought was even better than Mo-Town. I'm a big time (Earth, Wind & Fire, and Chicago fan.) If you get a chance look up Chicago's first album, Chicago Transit Authority and check out their lead guitarist Tery Kath. The dude is a bad ass! I listen to all types of genres from Classical, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, even some Country.. I just can't dig "negative rap" I've seen first hand what's portrayed on the streets from that type of nonsense!
