CHARLESTON — West Virginia Power baseball is celebrating two legendary Mountain State college football coaches Saturday.

The first 1,000 fans through the gates for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Delmarva Shorebirds will receive a free Bobby Pruett/Don Nehlen bobblehead statuette. Appalachian Power Park gates open at 6:05 p.m.

Pruett coached the Marshall Thundering Herd from 1996 to 2004. Nehlen was West Virginia University's head coach from 1980 to 2000.

West Virginia Power is a Class A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates in the South Atlantic League.

  • Anyone know how much tickets are? I may swing in just to get one of these. And I think it's funny that they said the first 1,000 fans. I doubt the Power have had 1,000 people at a game.

  • General admission is $7.00, parking across the street is $3.00 so that comes out to five bucks a "head".  ::)

  • Based on the picture, it doesn't look like the wv logo is on Don Nehlen's shirt, wonder if the Power were unable to get the rights.

The Power draws plenty of fans.  I've never been when there wasn't a good crowd.  Sometimes it is hard to even walk the concourses.  It is always a good time and much more affordable than a MLB game.  If you like baseball, then you should try it out.
