AFL ORLANDO (May 16, 2014) – The Orlando Predators have activated quarterback Bernard Morris, the team announced today.

Morris (6-4, 225, Marshall) is entering his fifth season in the AFL and his first with the Predators. He led the Jacksonville Sharks to the American Conference championship game in each of the past two seasons. He was acquired by the Predators in February in the trade that sent Aaron Garcia to Jacksonville.

During his time in Jacksonville, Morris posted an impressive 20-8 overall record as a starting quarterback. The Orlando native completed 257-of-394 passes for 2,746 yards and 55 touchdowns in 15 games with the Sharks in 2013 while also setting a new single-season franchise record with 306 rushing yards. Over his four-year AFL career, Morris has thrown for 8,143 yards and 177 touchdowns while adding 1,006 yards and 32 scores on the ground.

The Orlando native attended Jones High School where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He went on to have a successful college career at Marshall University, completing 483-of-803 passes for 5,616 yards and 31 touchdowns over his four-year career with the Thundering Herd.

Biggreenarms, thanks for the link.  I wish MU had run the current offensive scheme during Bernie's years.

He had a lot of potential. I saw him play a few games a couple years ago and he was playing LB and laid the wood on a couple of guys. If he were in a better system while here I think he could have made it to the NFL. Him and Stan Hill (pre injury) would have been excellent dual threat QBs.

I'm still surprised that he never got a shot in the CFL...

I always appreciated Bernie and felt bad that when he finally put things together and started playing really well his senior season, the team around him was horrible.

If Pruett had been his coach all 4 years he would be in the NFL.

And Morris throws a game tying TD plus 2 point conversion with 30 seconds left.  His team wins with no time on the clock, returning a missed FG for a TD.
