  • Thanks Louisville :/

It annoys me they don't mention that.  "The school should've never schedule Rhode Island."   ::)

  • That game was scheduled due to Louisville backing out. If I remember correctly it was slim pickins' to fill the slot.

  • If that's the case the no school should ever schedule a 1-aa team.

  • coloradoherd is spot on!

    Further,,

If Rhode Island was the best we could do at home, then .......
We should have played someone semi-big away, took their money...as had a real good chance of winning.

I get what you're driving at, but our fans deserve at least 6 home games per season. If we are to "step up" & buy more tickets, a 5-game home schedule wouldn't have cut it.

  • We have to have six home games. A big payout road game still wouldn't be the same as what we get from a home game. I hate we scheduled Rhode Island but no way would I be for a road game against an Alabama or OSU that makes big payouts.  I would have preferred we find a Sun belt team instead but that would require a 1-1 or 2-1 I am sure.

Wouldn't be the same? The payout from Alabama or Okie State would double what Marshall would make w/a 25K crowd.

But if you are just saying you'd rather have a home game against Rhode Island and a sure win rather than a big money loss then I understand your opinion/preference.

  • I'm sure that App. State v. Michigan was considered a "bad game" too.  Thankfully, I'm CERTAIN Doc will remind the guys of that very game as this one approaches.

All he has to do is post a picture of New Hampshire and Synder's Herd.

  • This game will get ugly fast. Rhode Island was 3-9 last year and gave up 37 points a game.

  • One thing to remember when throwing out scheduling options like big pay day game, or Sun Belt team, etc.  - due to Louisville's late request to delay the year the game is played we had to find a team that still had an opening for this year.  All of the options discussed above may be available when scheduling games in out years, but to find a replacement for Louisville we had a very small pool of teams to with which to work.
