Topic: Pruett as new AD?

Is it possible that Marcum might move up into the university and vacate his AD position for Pruett to take over?  It would be a way that he stays involved with the advancement of the athletic department and the football team.  All of those things that he strived to get now could become a reality with him at the helm.  Just a rumor that I heard.  Anyone heard the same?

You are probably correct and have no reason to doubt you, but I have still heard that as a possibility.

I believe that could happen, but I know the coach's heart is not in that, and he wouldn't be giving himself much more time for family.  This man loved what he was doing.  He was the Head Coach of the Marshall University Thundering Herd Football Program, and that was better than being Pope, or President.

That used to be one of Coach's main goals.  It was, at a time, when you didn't have to give your eye teeth for air to inflate a football.

Anything is possible just like Coach P always says.  Plus did Marcum ever sign a new contract to be AD?  It's just a thought.  He verywell could be stepping down at the end of June and Coach P could then become the AD.

I think what we're saying Lex, is that you have to want the job.  Unless something changes, I don't think Pruett wants it.

It was at one time planned that BP would become the AD as well as remaining as the head football coach for a year or so , then step off the playing field a la Vince Dooley.

With things as they developed , this is in all likelyhood not going to happen

Bob Marcum offered the job to Coach P. and his response was that he has no interest in becoming the Athletic Director. Coach served Marshall well and he will be in our hearts forever. His remarks yesterday summed up a lot of frustration. Marshall needs a better student monitoring system for football players than currently exist. He was promised 10 to 13 million of improvements to our facilities several years ago and we are still waiting for a groundbreaking of any sort. Coach P. has told friends of his displeasure over chasing down kids with problems which are well documented and no need to rehash here.                                                The bottom line is Coach spoke eloquently of his love of Marshall, Huntington, and West Virginia. Hats off to Coach for everything he has accomplished. No one in America could have done more with the resources he was given. Coach P. will now take his place along side of Cam Henderson as the best coaches in Marshall history.
