  • Hunter hit their qb a tad bit late on the last play IMO.  I don't know if that's what set him off, but they could have easily called it.
Wasn't Hunter I don't think, it was Rowe....who also got the important personal foul out of bounds on Kent's tying FG drive.  And yes, we were lucky that wasn't called....it was borderline...but also unnecessary.

  • The end zone angle behind Yuri looked like it wasn't targeting..but the one facing him made it pretty obvious to me. Defender launched himself helmet-first toward Ryan's head area, and threw a forearm to boot, then danced over him like a punk. The culmination of the three resulted in the kid getting thrown out of the game, and rightfully so, in my humble opinion.

I wouldn't have any problem with him being thrown out for taunting - that seemed more egregious than the hit.

  • As I watched the replay, my impression was that he danced, sure, but he was off to the side away from him, not unlike what many do after sacking the QB these days. Fwiw.

Thought the targeting call could have went either way, and it would have been a justifiable call... was just that close.

  • We were extremely fortunate Rowe was not call for roughing the passer, it was borderline and well after the ball was released. With MAC officials we may still be playing, Rowe certainly needs to play smarter.

  • Endzone was definately targeting. Watch the launch he takes, he absolutely launched himself at our guys head and neck area. He made no attempt to play the ball, which in itself isn't a penalty, but he could have laid a crushing hit to Yuracheks chest or gut and accomplished the same thing.

that was my thinking a well.

  • Here is the Cleveland Plain-Dealer's Take:

    The Kent-Marshall game had a Conference-USA crew.

"Kent's Najee Murray's was called for a forearm and shoulder into the upper body of former Hudson High product Hunter Yurachek, and not reversed.

Upon review, Yurachek's head is clearly above Murray's when contact is made just as he is catching the ball, and Murray's forearm is clearly into the chest/ball for the breakup, exploding upward.

Yurachek's head never snaps back as if by contact, and his head never hits the turf. Murray stays on his feet after contact. Yurachek pops up immediately after the hit and returns to the sidelines."

Who is Hunter Yurachek?  Writer clearly way off base in identifying player.  In any case, even without targeting the Kent player should have been flagged for taunting...that was as clear as day.
