NORFOLK — In its 76th modern football game, Old Dominion made the kind of history it surely wanted no part of. Saturday night's 49-0 loss to Appalachian State was its worst at home and the second-worst in the program's brief history.

Pretty much everything that could have gone wrong did, from four turnovers to a missed field goal to nothing doing in the running game. A song by the Shirelles, a '60s girl band, summed it up: "Mama said there'd be days like this."
