  • Oklahoma and Baylor play that weekend. It'll give Gameday a chance to see Baylor's new stadium.

Bama and Miss St. also play that weekend and could be their choice as well.

There is no way they pass up those match ups and venues for FIU @ Marshall, especially with the way both teams have been playing.

  • Well first off, ESPN doesn't hold the contract to broadcast our games....So it's kinda of dumb to think they would all travel to Huntington, set up all those trucks / equipment and hold gameday then leave....Honestly, they rarely if at all mention Marshall or the CUSA.....I heard Scott Van Pelt mentioned us and he made a pick to take Kent and the points....On college finally they mentioned WKU's Doubty just briefly but didn't show him....

So that's about what we are going to get in the future, I believe....

I don't think there's any chance Gameday would come here for that matchup, but not having the rights to the game wouldn't be the reason. They went to Houston when Houston played SMU in 2011 when both were in C-USA and FOX had the rights. They also went to TCU when TCU played Utah in 2009 when both were in the Mountain West and CBS Sports Network aired the game.

It's rare they come to smaller conference matchups, but it does happen.

  • Here is another side of the coin.

To be honest I am not sure having game day in Huntington is the appropriate thing to do. Game day is a festive event with fans going crazy and having a great time. Party central. Personally, I have very mixed feelings about this sort of atmosphere on a day that is very special to Marshall University, its fans, family members and those that perished on that flight. I think it would be much better to have the cameras come in and do a segment with past/present players, coaches, families, fans etc and run it as a special on game day or whoever is doing the Marshall game broadcast. Visit the crash site, visit the cemetery, the Memorial Fountain etc. Tell the story in the most appropriate manner possible.

Certainly I want to remember those that lost their lives and I want to celebrate the greatest sports story and comeback ever but personally I want to ensure its done appropriately and the right way.

Yes, there are or at least were 2 Marco outfits.

Contracts have never mattered to GameDay, it's all about the story around the game or a national story......They have been to numerous sites that did not have league contracts.........TCU when they were in the MWC for example..... they have been on site for games that were telecast that day by CBS......... while the MU crash story remains front and center here, it's kind of like Pearl Harbor Day in that for National News it certainly bears mentioning every year but not a feature story each year..... simply a long time ago.....  Now if the game were significant, then the story would make a great sidebar to the coverage of the game..........if MU were undefeated for example and Top 25, in the running for the Access Bowl and playing a P5 or maybe a BYU. Boise, or an undefeated AAC school, then maybe....  That just isn't the case with this game on this day
