HUNTINGTON - Marshall University football head coach Doc Holliday addressed the situation regarding running back Devon Johnson's injury during his Tuesday press conference. Holliday denied a report Tuesday in The Herald-Dispatch that cited sources saying Johnson has a fractured disk in his back.
The report was in a column written by Chuck Landon of the newspaper staff. Landon's column questioned whether Marshall should have played Johnson in Saturday's game at Kent State. "There's no such thing as a fractured disk, by the way," Holliday said.
"I just want to let you know that we've got the best team doctors going out there. I have great respect for Dr. G (Charles Giangarra), Dr. (John) Jasko, our entire staff. I have the best trainer going in Tim (Pike) and I can assure you that those doctors and trainers always have our student-athletes' health at the front of their deal.
