Marshall University Board of Governors members will welcome the school’s new president next month with a reception on campus.Jerome Gilbert, whom the board hired last month, will be introduced Dec. 2 at the Joan C. Edwards Performing Arts Center in Huntington. The meeting, as well as a reception with Gilbert and his wife, Leigh, are open to the public.Gilbert will be the university’s 37th president. He replaces interim President Gary White, who was appointed after the unexpected December death of President Stephen Kopp.Gilbert was one of three finalists who interviewed for the job in October. Board Chairman Michael Sellards said Gilbert’s presidency opens an exciting chapter for the university.“His vision and leadership are just what we need to propel us forward to become an even greater university,” he said.
