Of note: UConn-Marshall is expected to be a defensive battle. Both are among in the best in the country in points allowed. Marshall is 13th (18.4) nationally while UConn is 16th (19.8). However, the UConn offense has been practicing and carrying itself with a little more confidence this week. Quarterback Bryan Shirreffs said he feels good about the gameplan and expects a good game for the Huskies offense. Offensive coordinator Frank Verducci said he expects the offense to play well, too. The thing is, it hasn't played well otherwise it would be better than 6-6 next to its top-notch defense. Shirreffs looks good again after taking a shot to the head in the Houston game. Brian Lemelle, who has missed most of the season with a nagging leg injury, has looked better this week. The Huskies have thrown in a few wrinkles that could throw off the Thundering Herd but don't expect to see much difference in the way of schemes the Huskies have run the last 15 weeks. Those schemes work in Verducci's view. The Huskies just have to be more consistent especially up front.
