It is financially impossible for Marshall to fly its equipment to games, so the equipment truck spans the Eastern United States and sometimes even beyond to make sure the Herd has everything.

Worner has been around Marshall's program since the early to mid-1990s and he takes pride in seeing that, whether home or on the road, the Herd's needs are met.

"We have to be very coordinated to get this orchestrated and where it needs to be," Worner said. "As soon as a game is over on Saturday, we start re-packing everything for our next trip - whether a home game or an away game. There's a lot of hours. We're probably averaging 12- to 14-hour days to get packed and get where we need to go.

"You have to separate everything out because you have three different venues - the hotel to pack for, the practice site and the game-day site to practice for," Worner said. "You have to go through everything from that standpoint. You have practice on the road at a bowl, which you normally don't have for a regular road game. That doubles everything you pack because you make sure everyone has everything they need for practice and for the bowl game."

Marshall's equipment truck, which also serves as a mobile Herd billboard, was loaded down for the long haul to St. Petersburg, a drive that took 15 1/2 hours.

Before the team arrived Tuesday afternoon, the truck and members of the equipment staff were already there.
