CLEARWATER, Fla. - As Marshall University's football team arrived into the Tampa/St. Petersburg area for the St. Petersburg Bowl, the signs of the Sunshine State were all around.

The sunshine. The warmth. The humidity.

And there were the palm trees, although they were decorated for the holiday.

Marshall (9-3) and Connecticut (6-6) meet at 11 a.m. Saturday in the St. Petersburg Bowl at Tropicana Field.

Despite all the signs of a Christmas in Florida, the bowl game experience has definite Mountain State feel.

"There's a lot of great West Virginians down here," Marshall head coach Doc Holliday said. "The hospitality has been great and the kids have enjoyed themselves to this point."
