  • I figure it is most likely an FCS, but why would it not already be announced? I'm hoping MH is still trying to work something out with an FBS team of some sort. I am bored with some free time. So here goes.

We have open dates on the weekend of 09/03 and 09/10. I am getting my info from http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa/ncaa-football-schedules.php

According to that site here is a list of teams that have open dates that match up with ours.

    09/03

    UCF
    UNLV
    Eastern Michigan

    09/10

    Maryland
    Michigan State
    Kansas State
    Kent State
    Western Michigan
    California
    Oregon State
    Stanford

    Both Dates

    Buffalo
    Coastal Carolina

  • Would love to see Marhsall get another P5 team into Huntington and hopefully one of those teams will agree to a 1-1, if not, then I would love to see a series with UCF

  • I want a P5 but I would settle for playing at Coastal. Got a 40ft 5th wheel stored 15 minutes from there.  ;D

  • I'd like to go on the road for the front half of a deal with UCF, Maryland, Michigan State, or Kansas State.

If we are going FCS, then hopefully its Coastal so it is at least someone who is transitioning to FBS.

  • Mike Hamrick has stated that we will play a 7th home game so most likely there is a 99.999% chance it will be a FCS school. Louisville and Pitt could both be preseason top 25 schools next year so have a FCS and Kent or Akron, whoever it is, will be fine as it pertains to the access bowl. We just need to win!!!

  • Enough with FCS...it is not fun to play those teams....would rather play a big name opponent on the road for a million dollar payday.

  • None of the available teams are worth a 1-0 at their place.

And you are right. Our schedule will def be fine next year no matter what. We can afford an FCS this season. If we do. I really hope it is first game of the season on a Saturday night. We would still break 30k no matter what.

  • At UCF to open the year would be cool. They need a home game, we can go on the road. They can end their long losing streak by beating us in Orlando as is tradition. We both have plenty of room in 2018 for a return game.

sadly enough, before the 1 side of stadium field got condemned, it probably could've held the crowd that would show up for that game.  obviously, kent wouldn't bring anybody.  the 15 herd fans in pksbg would've been there + our usual traveling contingent.

Me too, if we're going to try and get an access bowl game. Because it today's committee's language there's such a thing as a good loss, go figure!

I think you're talking about Big Red feild at PHS and you're probably right. However I wonder if Erikson on the south Side might be able to handle a crowd that would show up.

MU has always done a poor job of promoting itself in the state. While them ever playing a real game is unlikely, I think they could do more on the road in springtime. Like the thing at the Greenbrier last year of that they did at Oaks Field in SC a few years ago.

Sadly I think most of those few road shows have been brought about by nonMU people doing the work and MU slowly coming along.

As far as MU building support for itself in the state, I think MU is its' own worse enemy.
