  • To our city planners and mayor as they are in Durham, NC for the semi-finals of the ABC's project.

This project is to take communities in America who have potential and are aggressively pursuing growth and revitalizations.

Huntington has beaten out several other candidates and are in line to possibly win up to $3 million in prize money to assist in implementing their plan.
This money is on top of the other money they're going to secure from bonds.
However, I think this money will go a long way because it can actually SHOW people what can be done...and maybe decrease their unwillingness to support it and when they see something transformed, will get on board and support it.

It's call the Huntington Innovation Project, and it aims to revitalize Hal Greer, Highlawn, and parts of 4th Avenue. They have outlined ways of attracting jobs for just about everyone, creating improved and newly built businesses, as well as residential areas.

I believe this is a separate entity from the Harris Riverfront Project...which as far as I know, is signed and ready to be looked at for construction.

Both projects, I can see, gaining some private investors and with Huntington FINALLY being nicer to outside businesses, it seems the ENTIRE town can be on board with this.
One of the cool perks of the Riverfront, was a monorail system...on top of the floodwall.
I just hope they get rid of the slumlords and make them more accountable for their tenants. I guarantee that'd make a major dent in the drug problems here.

But anyways, for those who want to be critical...they've already gotten $100,000 for this project from the ABC group, which is to be used within 7 months towards some of their plans...and obviously this plan works because it has beaten out SEVERAL other cities and communities in America...ad the Mayor is apparently down there, or was, or will be...whichever...which means Williams is really trying hard to change the landscape of the city.

Combine this with what Barboursville is doing...expanding their shopping and business footprints to major groups (like Aldi and Trader Joe's, and Popeye's, and Dave and Buster's)...

The entire friggin' area could seriously explode if they remain on board with everything for the next decade.
