You can start to hear the sounds of basketballs bouncing on the court and soon the smell of fresh popcorn in the Henderson Center, as a new basketball season fast approaches.

Rick gives us a preseason look into Herd basketball and what to expect in the upcoming season.

     "To me, it's really just my second year."  ;)  "Over the years our teams get strong at the end as they learn how to catch on to how they fit."   

i think many fans agree that if the bulk of your roster is quality freshmen who stay all 4 years this can work and it appears this is what he's trying to do.

     "Herd was last in conference defense with an average yield of 84.9 points."  "we don't have the big, big size so we have to make sure everybody positions themselves in a team situation so we can get the guy guarding the ball up into them a little bit more."

being somewhat old school, to me BB is BB.   whether it's 3 on 3 or 5 on 5....almost every time, i'd pick the group with the tallest players to win.  especially nowadays that most bigs are more complete players.  i understand quality bigs are not easy to find and recruit and i'm hopeful concerning the 6-8ish guys he's getting but i'd love to get two of the right 6-10 to 7-0 guys who can run, guard the basket and block shots in the middle

i don't have much faith in most of DD's assistants but it is true that the fun in Herd BB is back.  let's GO HERD!
