  • In order of wins

    UAB-9
    North Texas-9
    MTSU-8
    Marshall-8
    FIU-8
    La Tech-7
    So Miss-6

Seven eligible teams for six slots.  I think we are fourth in the pecking order.EDIT: I think CUSA actually has seven.

FAU lost to Charlotte today and finished 5-7.

  • I would say we are in first for our pick of eastern based bowls, second at worst.  So that means Boca or Tampa again.

One would think so, although we haven't taken our obligatory trip to CUSA's Siberia, a/k/a the Bahamas Bowl, yet, and that worries me.

My guesses based purely on geography and "pecking order"

    UAB: New Orleans
    North Texas: First Responder
    Middle: Cherry
    Marshall: Bad Boy Mower
    FIU: Bahamas
    LaTech: Hawaii
    Southern Miss: New Mexico

  • So what changes when we beat those turkeys from Blacksburg?

I saw on twitter from the So Miss beat writer that CUSA has 6 primary Bowl toe-ins and is only expected to send a team to either the Bad Boy OR 1st Responder, but NOT BOTH. Something tovkeep an eye on sice the number of overall Bowl eligible teams exceeds available spots. Also, CUSA rules dictate that 7+ win teams get bowls over 6-win teams, so So Miss might be the odd man out anyway.

  • Didn't we get "traded" last year for a match-up ESPN wanted?  I'm kind of looking at this again this year.  Whether or not we always happy with what happens on the field at MU, or even like to bitch and moan about our coach, we are a better TV draw than anyone else in the conference.  Bowls are about TV; nothing more, nothing less.  I say we end up playing Boise or another MW school somewhere again; just a hypothesis I have about ESPN and match-ups they can make within the bowls they basically own.

Southern Miss has the worst record of all the bowl eligible teams at 6-6. I would think they would be punished with a trip to the Bahamas.

  • USM is 6 and 5..cancelled vs Appy. They have a 50-50 shot prob. About 82 BE teams for 78 slots. Few gonna stay home.

  • I hope we can put up a sign in the stadium if we can win the Bad Boy Mower Bowl.

  • I would be willing to bet that all the CUSA teams get a bowl game somewhere which further proves we are ahead of the MAC and Sun Belt in the pecking order.

  • There is no pecking order after the champion. ESPN will put teams based on how many people they think they can take to a given location

  • When it looked like So. Miss wasn't going to be bowl eligible, I think they put out the word that they were NOT interested in trying to find a 12th game, mainly because they had had a lot of injuries over the course of the season.  Now that they manage to get a 6th win, without benefit of another game, I guess they changed their tune and decided to go to a bowl, if invited.

Also, I believe in recent years CUSA has picked off a bowl slot or so whenever a Power league, or leagues, couldn't fill all their tie in bowl slots with eligible teams.
