  • Just read where the Reds are replacing their 10 year old one as it is now obsolete and they have trouble getting parts for it.

How old are ours? We are probably in the same situation or soon will be.

  • I think the scoreboards belong to IMG Sports, pretty sure they are the ones who upgraded them last time; which was only 3 or 4 years ago.  Made more space for advertising and down-sized the information portion (ugh).

  • The scoreboards at the Joan were installed in 2009 or 2010.

Correct, but they were upgraded not too long ago; including the pixel matrix of the one over the Shewey Building.

  • They have never correctly used the video boards that we already have. Chances are new ones would be treated the same way. Always a small video feed and huge advertisements. Same for the ribbon boards. Most schools do fun things with the ribbon boards and the video boards are full screen game footage, not ads. Not good old MU.

Games are depressing. Nothing beats looking all around you and 90% of the sponsor advertising is Cancer Centers and Cardiology departments at hospitals. I remember sitting at a game and over the speakers you hear "Cabell Huntington Hospital want to remind all men over 40 to have a prostate exam regularly" or something along those lines. I'm thinking to myself "No-one at this game wants to think about having someones finger in their butt and if they are suffering from one of these ailments, chances are they are at this game trying to escape that reality for at least four quarters. They want to look around and be reminded of it by all of the competing hospitals advertisements everywhere they look." I know WV and the tri state area in general don't have a lot of industrial companies or businesses to pull sponsorship from and they pretty much get the crumbs left behind after WVU and UK snatch up all of the money, but geez, it's depressing.

  • The only times I’ve been depressed at a home Marshall game was when Akron and WKU took us behind the woodshed. I’ve honestly not paid that much attention to anything other than the game on the field and have fun with my family and friends.

  • I miss the stat boards, and it’s really a shame we didn’t have them up until after our hey day... and were gone before Cato/Shuler/Johnson 2012-2014 seasons.

  • I'd rather keep our current boards without the advertisement requirements than to get new ones full of nothing but ads.

  • I think MU gets boards for free and advert pays for it over time. But also agree that the ads really overwhelm the space on the board.  It's like having a 60-inch tv and only being able to watch a 20 inch portion of it.
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

Huh? I didn't know that's what we were doing? Just like the turf, the scoreboards will get changed in pretty regular intervals; every 10 years, etc.

Why do some on here like to point out that we are poor at ever chance they get? We are so poor we build a 50 million dollar building every 3 years. I'd like to be that poor.

  • I think we have more important matters than the improperly used scoreboards !
On Halloween night 1965, The Beverly Hills Residents Assocoation wants to tear down TUBBY'S DRIVE INN and one year later open an office building. For one last night The "HOLLYWOOD KNIGHTS" reigned supreme and left their mark on Beverly Hills forever !
