  • Mike McGee was the head coach at ECU when the Pirates beat Marshall 17-14.

  • So he was only about 31 and a head coach at a DI school?  Pretty amazing then, would be unbelievable today.
"On rainy days, the early justices would enliven case conferences with wine. On other days, even if the sun was shining, Chief Justice John Marshall would order wine anyway, saying, 'Our jurisdiction is so vast that it must be raining somewhere.' "

  • Had a long and distinguished career in college athletics.  Won the Outland Trophy while at Duke.  Had his Pro career shortened by injuries.  Believe he also coached at Duke as well as at ECU.  Made his mark as an athletic director, both at Southern Cal and at South Carolina.  Hired both Lou Holtz and the "ole ball coach", Steve Spurrier, as the Gamecocks head football coach!  Not too shabby!
