Topic: Way too early, nearly useless, gut feeling and other assumptions

I have a gut feeling Wells may be an Elmore type athlete, such that, he is a supremely talented and highly skilled local player that was completely overlooked by major programs, possibly stereotyped by having success in a sparsely populated state. 

The whole thing about an “Elmore” are 1 we got darn lucky to get them 2 they rarely come along 3 when they’re gone they are gone and not another like them 3 more of a function of happenstance and good fortune than recruiting. 

I guess you could say a lot of those things about, Troy, Chad as well, maybe Randy in a weird way but his size / speed / athleticism were otherworldly.

It's possible.   Pruett was the master of finding the diamond in the rough.  And it served us well.  But with the internet and phones being what they are today, it is much less likely that a real talent will go unnoticed.  Back in the day it was more likely the only way you got to see anyone from another state was if they mailed you a VHS of them playing and not in hi-def.

One thing that does benefit us is not being known as a recruiting hotbed.  Most people won't even bother checking out a highly touted player from 'round here.
