  • . . . has taken a "big hit" per Chuck Landon's latest column.  Chuckie notes that all three of the Herd's "money" games, with a significant pay out from "Major" opponents are no longer going to be played:  Kentucky, Xavier and Virginia Tech apparently have told MU that the games are "off".  Chuck also notes that the scheduled opening game at EKU will be played in the following season.  Finally, Chuck's article indicates that if the Herd opens its season on November 25th, the earliest starting date, that practice can start on October 14, or in about a week.

I imagine that right now Danny D., Mark Cline and others on the basketball staff are scrambling for some additional games to add.  With the reduced number of games overall allowed this regular season and with "Major" teams being quite cautious and selective in the out of conference foes they schedule, especially among the "mid majors", I imagine if the Herd does add games, the opponents will come from the ranks of lower "mid majors", OVC, MEAC, etc., or perhaps from the D2 ranks.  Another "hit" to the schedules of the Herd's "revenue" sports in this 20-21 pandemic stricken academic and athletic year!!

  • as of now are OOC schedule is
    Toledo
    @ Akron
    Ohio
    UNI
    @ C of C

They are trying to be able to buy 3 home exempt games.

As many of you most likely saw yesterday, the league is considering a change in conference play for this season only.
We would play 2 game home stands against the same opponent.
Example, Charlotte would come in and play Thursday and stay over and play Saturday.
We would go to ODU and play Thursday and stay over and play Saturday.

It would save on travel expenses and lessen trips in and out of airports and airplanes for health concerns.

All practices will be closed to fans and the media. As of now there is no assurances that there will be any fans at the games.
Thank goodness we have the video capabilities that we have so we can at least watch on ESPN+
Today, I consider myself, the luckiest man on the face of the earth..
