  • I’m surprised the coach of the year isn’t on Auburn’s list...Bill Clark seems to be.

    Quote
UAB head coach Bill Clark is one of the top names on the coaching market. Clark stuck with the program and brought them back in 2017. Since that time, he has made a name for himself on the national level. Watch the video above to hear what Clark had to say about being mentioned in the Auburn coaching search.

  • This story may gain some traction...big money boosters want the DCordinator to take over but their has been a push by some for Clark to be considered.

I find it interesting several AUB fans on their message board feel the same about Clark as many here feel about Doc.

Makes sense. Like Doc, he's been there for awhile and has the same # of titles but has never been able to get over the hump into the upper echelon of the G5. They were given a huge gift in terms of eligibility from the NCAA when they restarted their program but weren't able to do much with it. Kind of like Doc when he had a C-USA 2.0 roster vs. all of the new programs and Sunbelt teams from 2013-2015.

None of the C-USA left-behinds are doing particularly well. It's even more frustrating as this era has corresponded with the rise of the Sunbelt.

  • No bill Clark is not a good fit for auburn. It was stupid for them to fire malzahn this year with no big name coaches to fill the void.  If they screw this up they will go the way of Tennessee and be irrelevant for a long time.

  • Clarks a good coach but let's not forget, he had a ton of help from the NCAA in getting the program up and running - which the effects are still being felt. The 2020 class is the first full class of his, post shutdown. He would be a good fit for a P5 program.
