Same here, good ole cusa, gonna sweep it under the rug apparently.
Apparently, lot of "questionable" things going on in CUSA, 24. If folks can find it, check out a recent article by the Washington Post's Kent Babb which was a full page reprint in the January 31, 2021, edition of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
It concerns the circumstances leading to the resignation of Middle Tennessee's football offensive coordinator, long time veteran coach, Tony Franklin. The gist is that Franklin's resignation resulted from his claim that the program there under veteran head man, Rick Stockstill, was ignoring, short changing any COVID-19 Guidelines and Protocols that had been set out. MTSU, which lost to MU on 11/14, ended the season 3-6, after their final game was cancelled, mainly because the team was beset with the virus and injuries.
Franklin was an advocate/formulator 2 decades earlier of the Air Raid Offense championed by UK head football coach Hal Mumme and he served as Mumme's OC for 4 seasons before being fired by the Wildcats. Franklin did a tell all book about the UK program which ultimately resulted in the Wildcats being found guilty of numerous violations and in Mumme's dismissal. Franklin was essentially "blackballed" in the Coaching fraternity, eventually returning as a coach at Troy State. Later went briefly to Auburn, under Tommy Tuberville, where the two soon clashed and Franklin was dismissed, but with a 2 year buyout. He then went to Cal where in 3 years he helped Jared Goff set 26 passing records and become a first round NFL draft choice in 2016. Then he landed at MTSU, where he coached through this past season.
The article's author noted that Franklin presented numerous documents, e-mails, text messages, of expressions of his concerns and meetings he had with Stockstill and AD Chris Massaro about the COVID issues. Franklin also sent letter in July 2020 to school President Sidney McPhee "outlining his belief Stockstill and others were ignoring the school's coronavirus policies." After the school found out about this article being in the works, they released a statement basically exonerating Stockstill. Interestingly, the article noted as the season progressed up to 40 MTSU players tested positive for the virus, as did 3 coaches and 5 members of the strength and conditioning staff. In October, Franklin told Stockstill that he would no longer attend in-person meetings and when the team made the 6 hour bus trip to play at Marshall Franklin made the trip in his own truck!!
Just wonder if MU ended up with any significant COVID problems, or had a spike in same, AFTER we played MTSU on Nov. 14th? Could have been a factor of some significance in our putrid performances in the last 3 games, ALL LOSSES!
