  • That sound you hear is three refs gagging on their whistles at the end of the USPaM/TTech game...  pathetic.

  • Dude they were getting fouled like crazy and the refs weren't calling it!!   I couldn't believe it.  The fouls that should have been called would have easily gave them the win!!!

I felt like it would be a close game because TT is not that good.  I can say for sure that Louisville will destroy them.  End of story.  No one will remember WVU even being in the elite eight next year or even 3 months from now.

  • This is, bar none, the most disgusting thing I've had to watch in a long, long time.  It's really ruining March Madness for me.  My only hope is that Louisville beats them by 50.

  • Well when I turned on the news this morning, they showed rioting and couch burning... I said to my wife "oh no, the Mountaineers won last night!" The Columbus media always enjoys pointing out the Mountaineer ignorance and making that part of the state look really great.
As far as the Mountaineer basketball team, I have to give credit where credit is due. Go Herd, our 6-21 team beat them!
Seriously, I think the next game against Louisville will be a great matchup. WVU is playing pretty good as is Louisville.
How many people actually picked the queers to go this far in the tournament?

  • All this is doing is putting more pressure on Jirsa, deservedly so.

Beilein is a new coach who, in a few years, manages to take his team to the Elite Eight (at least).

Jirsa is a new coach who, in a few years, manages to take his team to the worst record in school history.

    The pressure rises even more.

Right now, the state of WVU basketball is:   :x

While the state of Marshall basketball is:   8)

  • I am huge and die hard Herd Fan but I have to admit that I enjoy seeing WVU doing well in the NCAA tournament.  Think about it, they are representing WV just well (couch burning, car flipping, etc.).  Even if they go all the way, they can never say that they beat us this year.  So take off your green/white glasses and be a good sport and give them some credit.  JMO

  • I agree with everthing above.

    1. Although I have some really good friends who are WVU fans and I respect them for being the type of fan that they are, this still absolutely disgusts me. It sickens me to see Keven "MY" Pittssmelllikerottennoodles run up and down the court pounding on his chest.
    2. This proves that it does not take 5 years to turn a basketball program around like many are saying regarding Jirsa. This can be done immediately with just a couple solid players.
    3. Go Cardinals.
    4. Football gets started back up in a few days, we will have a new coach a couple days after that, then maybe you guys can drop the WVU talk, and start talking Marshall again.

  • I can't help it but to root for them. They are playing some serious basketball.
Sure I hate the Mountaineers. But this time, they are the little guy in the big dance. And I just love to see them higher seeds run through the tourney knocking offthem higher seeds who are always predicted to win it all.

Honestly, I will be rooting for them to knock off Louisville just for the sake of the upset.

Win or lose, love'em or hate'em, this team has put a serious positive stamp on their bball program.
I wish I could say the same thing for our Herd.
    IT'S TAILGATING SEASON!

  • But I have a niece at western, and I
m glad to see them have the run they are having too in the post season.
I realy hate western for it's cowardess in not playing Marshall home and home in hoops or even home n home in football, but they've played TEAM basketball, and TEAM basketball is really hard to come by these days.
GREAT motion offense showing patience and poise, and some "luck" :-)

  • If you don't like the (WV) university, then at least respect the what the coach and players have put together in the post season this year.  It's always exciting to see an underdog make a run through the tournament.  And like it was said before, they didn't beat THE HERD this year.  When its all over, THE HERD will at least have a highlight in their season of beating an "elite eight" team, or pehaps even a "final four" team.

  • Never will respect that school after what they try to do to Marshall in years past.  I have actually tried to sit down and root for them but I always unconsciously start rooting against them.  No kidding.     It is just not ment to be.   I hate them and that is all there is to it.  I really think that they are just on a luck streak right now.  Why else did they pretty much suck all year except now?!    Think about it.

They are not playing on talent but emotion and it will run out.  Live and die by the 3 you will eventually croke.  They better start digging the grave because Sat. is the end of the Green Mile.  This train ride is over folks for them.    I truly don't think they are as good as they are playing otherwise we would not have beat them if they were so good.

  • This is a school that has ACTIVELY done things that have cost Marshall tens of millions of dollars.  Can you root for that?  What if someone robbed you?  Would you root for them in the prison basketball tournament?  Hell no.  I hope they get crushed by the Cardinals.  I think I'll buy a Papa John's pizza tomorrow night in their honor.

Every school tries to make itself the better than the rest.  You can't fault them for that.  They realize the heat put on them by Marshall and are trying to do something about it.  The people who need to be targeted for criticism, in my opinion, are those punks in the state government who vote and make decisions that are not good for the state, but rather for their alma mater.  They don't understand that by improving Marshall, it is improving WVU, as WVU must do better than mediocre in order to compete.

At any rate, I was impressed by their run, but I hope it ends at Louisville.   They've already ruined my bracket, damn it!

  • When we (Marshall) are not playing WVU, I am for them...I'd like nothing more than for them to win the National Championship in a year that we beat them. Same for Football...I'd love to see them undefeated until we play them.  People on these boards want to see them tank...#1 - They are a WV team and #2 - if they suck, what fun will it be to whup up on 'em??
