  • Kinda feels like there's times when he is talking to us posters. Loved it and glad he stated his argument for some critical plays that have been discussed here.

He seems very thorough in his own game prep.

Love the Ali talk! Get this guy more.carries please.

He seems good at critiquing without ripping a player up. He creates learning opportunities out of mistakes and holds you accountable to learn.

Doc and Snyder never gave me this much confidence that issues will be fixed and this team will only get better over time. It's going to take a lot to knock me off the Huff bus.

  • I still feel the same way....we are very lucky to have this guy. I love having a coach who actually talks football during a press conference as opposed to constant coach speak.

Notice he described the 4th down call exactly how I did in a previous thread. It's an RPO with 3 plays in one, and we took what the defense gave us.
The right way is always the right way- Coach Huff

  • It will take a lot to turn me off on Huff.  He's a breath of fresh air.  Can't wait to see what the future holds.

Me too. If any Herd fan can't appreciate a positive change, then they haven't gotten over Doc's contract not being renewed..

  • I'm still frustrated about Saturday but I really do like how he talks about specific drives, plays, personnel, and his logic for play-calling and general decision-making. Even the little anecdotes about practice and players (like Ali) are good to hear.

It really does feel like he's reading posts on this site. It's either that or the critiques are glaringly obvious and just have been ignored for a very, very long time.

It's honestly just nice being treated like a stakeholder in the program.

  • I like what he did concerning Saturday's comments.  I also think the he is a bit of a "captain obvious" describer of things, but I'm personally good with that because he doesn't know what everyone knows.

While I think he made some errors of commission on Saturday, I think he has to learn just like the rest of the team; at least he told us what decisions were made and why.

  • Much better than Saturday but still some I did everything right and I am letting you know I covered every possible option ECU might use.  It does seem like he realized he crossed a line and tried to bring it back some.

Eager to see the green and white on Thursday night.

  • Good presser! He answers questions specifically and doesn't resort to cliques.

Don't buy the RPO explanation on 4th down play. If you know they are bringing 2 xtra (7 total) there are 10 ways to beat that defensive call. One of hardest ways is to throw it to a corner with limited field. The TD to Willie was a perfect throw and you're asking him to do same thing vs 2x coverage and two out of bounds lines in endzone. That route occupies CB and S. There is someone else open because everyone else had to be in man coverage and you can see that there was. In a 3 reciever route you would have 2 one on one matches. Add a back that chips and goes out and someone is uncovered. It was a bad choice by Wells.  Throw a TE screen to right to Gaines and he probably walks in. Run a replace route where receiver replaces the blitzer. Move pocket. Either way moving sticks was visibly there for taking...you could see it live... and that choice to throw into 2x in a corner was a low percentage completion chance.  ECU completed probably 10 move the sticks short routes in 2nd half.

Huff also basically stated they teach play the man until WR starts playing ball. Good QBs will exploit that every game. Never going to be better than top G5 teams playing like that because they all have good QBs. My opinion.

Other than that he has good answers that make sense. I like our chances vs Appy but it's a tough place to play at night and you know they have revenge on their mind. Weather suppose to be in 50's so that should help.

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • Very pleased with the press conference. I too like that when he  talks about specific plays or players he does so critiquing them rather  than appearing to criticize them. Ali, look out!

  • No problem with his press conference except that perhaps he could throw in a "no question" here and there throughout his presentation to . . . uh, you know, provide a little "comic relief"!   ;D
