  • I?m hopeful that with a very short amount of time, Huff can turn us into a top 2/3 G5 team.  He won?t have patience with Guidry as a sh**** DC and he will figure out how to propel us ahead to places we haven?t seen in a long time.

Today was hard to watch at times.  And I hate losing 2 weeks in a row against teams I think we are better than.  Make no mistake. App State is a top 30/35 team.  And we should have won by 10 at their place.  But 2 weeks in a row we leave with the L.

I still am bullish on The Huff Regime.  This season is a wash already.  Even if we win out and win crappy CUSA, I won?t be content until we are a top 25 team again.  With a season or 2 of Huff recruiting and HC experience, Huff will get us there.

  • Agreed. I'm 100% on the Huff train right now. We are much better than last year. Not where we want to be YET, but I think Huff can and will get us there.

  • He has to admit more fault. If he pops off another get on or get off, quite frankly he can get Fd. My 60 year old dad can still name his classmates who lost parents. My grandma can name people she knew. He has to understand where he is and what it means.

It?s not a train. We play to honor them. We win to honor them. It?s not a momentum train. They played hard tonight but coaching failed them. Could ge be the guy? Sure. But he doesn?t seem to understand the gravity of his situation. We didn?t make plays is most likely it

  • Not sure how anyone can think he's the right person at this point. His decisions and non-decisions have
been horrible. I hope he gets better.

  • He is a brand new HC. Love his enthusiasm and go for it mindset; however, he needs to learn late game adjustments to win.

Dude he has had 4 games so far.  If you don?t notice a different mindset, discipline and attitude with this team, even after 2 losses that should have been wins, Im not sure you ever watched the sh** storm Doc brought for most of his lackluster tenure.  Some people are ready to fail Huff on his final exam and he?s 4 questions into a 50 question test.

  • I usually don?t comment about football, but Huff is coaching with the previous coaches players with a few exceptions.
Need to give him a break on two near misses no matter how much pain we are feeling.  Now, we are going into the conference schedule to get our Act Together.  In my estimation we played better tonight, to an extent, than we did against ECU.  Shortcomings to be sure, but some good things against a very good team.

    Just my two cents.

  • Huff has shown some inexperience as head coach by not calling timeout earlier on that final drive last week and by wasting 2nd half timeouts this week.

That being said, I feel like we were really unlucky to lose both games and still have confidence in what I'm seeing from our team.

  • Time will tell if we have the right man.  Offense is very exciting but defense is just the opposite.  If Huff doesn?t make a change at DC if things don?t improve it will likely lead to his ultimate demise.

Huff is a motivator but it will fall on deaf ears if we keep throwing away important games.  We should be 4-0 and likely ranked this week as we have not scored in the 4th quarter the last 2 games and been out scored 27-0 and lost by 1 point and 4 points.

Huffs rants should be aimed at his DC.

Nah it wont lead to his demise. Remember he has 11 years to figure it out. And I?m sure he will with more depth and better talent instead of just becoming stale.

Well he's got half of the answers wrong so far. That's failing at all of the schools I went to.

Exactly. And he was left with a dumpster fire that totally collapsed at the end of the season. Team fights, players left early, it was a meltdown of 2016 epic proportions. Huff has brought back unity to this team and he will go and stockpile talent. Has he made mistakes? Sure but he will get this thing rolling once he gets his guys and better depth. Would Ali even be playing under Doc? And Wells looks like a complete different player and getting more confident every game.

  • I still think Huff was a good hire. He is having to learn to be the man who leads a whole team, not just part of the team. It was more entertaining to watch our offense play. It is not entertaining to see our defense struggle. Reminds of the basketball team. Score 80 points and still lose. Maybe that will change this year with the players that are now here. Hopefully, it will change in football once Huff gets his style of players here. App State showed you need balance between the average play and the big strike. We will struggle with teams that can balance things out and go on long drives. I may be wrong, but one of their scoring drives was 15 plays. I'm not saying we need a drive that long, but it would be better on our defense if we can get a couple of drives that goes more than six or seven plays. Teams are going to figure that out. Now whether or not any of our conference mates can go on long, sustained, touchdown drives remains to be seen.

Right.  but he?s got 46 questions left and you are already telling him to turn in his test.  Where was this impatience with the last slap weenie we had at head coach?

For the record, i was checked out on Doc when he blew that WVU game. I knew we were in for a ride. Anybody that can blow a game up 15 with 4 minutes left with the ball on the opponents 1, first and goal, is a GD loser, period.

Agreed!  When Doc gave the ball to freshman (Tron Martinez) instead of Martin Ward on the 1 yard line, he blew the game.  We would have been up 28-6.  Still chaps my ass.

I agree with you...Only 4 games and a few plays from being undefeated and we have posters already aiming for coach Huff's head, Geez ::)........... A few things come to mind first, we still have Doc players who don't know how to win. Secondly, on defense we lost two critical key players Darius Hodge and Tavante Beckett. Hodge made the Bengals roster and Beckett came ever so close... I really see us winning CUSA this year. So keep posting the negative comments, because I'm going to definitely remind you at the end of the year..

Doc got blew out a lot of games as coach. Some the most humiliating losses ever here at Marshall came under his watch..

  • Reading this board is like listening to middle school girls chatting about cute boys and watching how quickly they go up and down the likable scale should they say something gross or creepy or really cool or some other notion or look or act that instantly changes their likable status.  Good grief.

Huff has been a head coach for 4 games, not just 4 at Marshall, 4 total.  Did anybody really think he was going to post a perfect season and never make a coaching mistake?

I don't know if he's the right coach or not AND nobody else does either, but throw out your cute boy or gross boy likes all you want, just understand that's what it is.  And since it's a 50/50 coin flip, many on here can claim one day that they knew from the Navy game that he was a winner or that they knew from the ECU epic fail that we had hired a loser.  But cute boy or gross boy tweets really don't mean much.

The reality is that to be good at ANYTHING you take your lumps and learn from your mistakes and develop skills and relationships and motivation and teamwork and more.  Somewhere in year 3 we will know for sure what we have, or if we are lucky maybe by the end of year 2.

What we do know is that the offensive scheme is exciting and that we have the OLine, WRs, RBs, and a QB that can put points on the board and make big plays at anytime.  No more boring.  We've moved the ball all over the field in 4 games.  Sometimes we are too aggressive when we just need to get the first down, or use the OLine to get 4 yards in the Redzone.  BUT we all wanted not boring.  Will Huff and Cramsey and Wells learn how to balance aggressive play with higher percentage plays at certain times?  Well, that's what we'll have to see.

What we do know is that the defensive scheme is risk-taking.  High blitzing.  Aggressive Dbacks harassing WRs.  When we match up well it's an awesome defense.  When a skilled team figures out our weak points and can execute, it can be frustrating to watch.  Getting the players Huff needs to play this defense will take time.  And learning how to manage it against teams as more and more game film adds up will be a challenge.

Give Huff and his staff time to figure out how to do this.  And let's enjoy the games.  All four have been wonderful games: 2 because we dominated and 2 because we played great at times and they came down to the last few minutes against rivals.  From what I've seen we have a great chance to win the CUSA East.  I can't wait to watch every game.
