  • that is a very good read, & marshall wasn't mentioned a single time.  really sad.  charlotte was mentioned.  coastal & appy were mentioned.  but not us.

at the outset of all of this realignment madness, i thought there was probably a 75% chance we'd get invited to the AAC.  i thought our brand & our history would really pull a lot of weight.  now, it almost seems like it'd shock the college sports world if they invited us.  we're not being mentioned by ANYBODY as being a candidate for them.

on the 1 hand, it's humbling & a reminder of how far you've fallen.  then, OTOH, you see charlotte mentioned, & they haven't accomplished jack crap...EVER.  they will always be the 10th fan choice in their own state (3/4 of NC probably thinks they still go by UNCC, that's how much attention they pay them).  there's nothing about marshall *that we have any control over* that would make us less valuable than charlotte.  we have better fan support.  people actually watch our games when we're on tv.  we have a record of success in the past, whereas they've had none ever.  & they still want charlotte over us.  whatever.

  • This is all market driven.  Has nothing to do with how far MU has fallen.  CUSA went after markets and now the AAC is going after markets.

  • If Marshall were as successful as App St over the past several years, the Herd would get mentioned too.

But neither Marshall or App St are going to the AAC. Neither school fits the AAC profile, the markets aren't there, and in the case of App State, ESPN wouldn't knee cap one of its own conferences like that.

  • Unless  someone has information, not conjecture and their own logic, I'm not paying attention anymore.

My feeling is that we should make sure we are better off when the dust settles, whether that is a new conference or having learned a lesson and making strides to improve our lot in the future.  MU has a history of letting things be done to it, that Idon't like. I like a future where we are the "doer", even it if includes errors in judgment.  Do, Ask, Do, that should be our motto IMHO.

  • I get the sinking feeling that we're going to sit idly by and let the chips fall where they may. Thus keeping us in good ole CUSA.  That is my worst nightmare.
