  • What was Docs record against teams with winning records? Heck, what was Pruetts?

Docs first three regular seasons - 5-7, 6-6, 5-7. Doc lost the last two bowl games in blowouts. Doc was mediocre at best.

We've had one very good season since 2003. Let that sink in boys.

Beau and others loved Doc, not sure why but that's cool. Huff should get the same chance.

Funny, he alluded to issues of fragmentation within the lockeroom when adversity hit. Doc recruited some doosies. Butler, Lang, McDaniel and others. Culture change will take time. Thankfully.

  •  I would give him a 7, maybe 6.5.  The 3-3 record at home is disappointing.  Huff has brought back a little excitement.  I think he did his best this year to keep the team on track and moving forward.  He might have lost that a bit in the last game.  It was hard to watch.  Felt like we were going to loss even though we were ahead at the half.  From now until spring ball will be very important in preparing for next year.  I hope he is here again next year as I still believe he may give us a chance to win a conference championship or two.  Hope I'm right.  Go Herd!

  • I'd like to rate based off of what I consider my expectations of Marshall

Expectation #1:  Win CUSA in the "up" years.  Go bowling in "down" years and in the hunt for division title.  I'd consider 2021 a down year so.....put a check box by expectation #1
Expectation #2:  Make noise as a top tier G5 1 or 2 times in a 10 year span.... not quite there
Expectation #3:  Score points with dynamic, high powered offense... I'll give half credit on this one.  We put up stats and points but something just ain't right
Expectation #4:  Never lose at home....Nope

So my rating, based off of my above expectations is 1.5 out of 4

There's quite a bit of work to do still and I could get into some specifics regarding team culture and attitude, attendance and atmosphere... etc.  But none of that stuff matters.  If we get to 2 or even 3 out of 4 on my expectation scale the other stuff will take care of itself.

  • Bet we have new qb or at least a new back up qb.  On top of the 21 class we will get one in the transfer portal.

  • I like Huff.  I was surprised to see the stat in Landon?s column that None of Huff?s 7 wins had a winning season prior to Saturday?s games.

Not that hard to do in CUSA.  Most teams are 6-6 or under .500.  UTSA had a smash season, going 11-1.  Best record after that I believe is 8-4.  Indicates to me a lot of "parity" in this League, with very, very little outstanding football, team wise!

  • Maybe should have phrased the question as a letter grade verses number.  I gave Huff a 7 which to me equates to a C.  He didn?t fail the class but there is work to do.  I truly thought when we blew out Navy this would be a 10 win season.

I thought that game was key to a special type season.  I am hoping Huff uses the portal for some immediate help.  The portal gave WKU the East crown.

  • I rate Huff what his record is.
He won about 59% of his games so I give him a 5.9 out of 10.

I didn't expect much this year. I do expect much next year.

  • I give Huff about a 6.  Lost a couple we shouldn't have.  Early on, someone said we'd go about 8-4, which is about where we should have been -- 9-3 at best.   I guess we all thought Doc's recruits were a little better than they actually are.  I don't worry about Huff -- the man has fire in his belly.  Give him a chance to get and develop his own recruits.  He needs seasoning on the little things a head coach has to do.  He's a quick study and he'll be hurting himself if he leaves prematurely.  Did you guys see had bad North Texas -- a team we manhandled -- beat UTSA?  C-USA is hard to figure and I'm glad we got out of it!

  • FWIW, looks like Penn State DC Brent Pry will get the Virginia Tech job.
