  • GTFO! Who is he kidding:

    1. Beyers in his fourth year at Marshall.
    2. George in his fifth year at Marshall.
    3. Taylor in his third year at Marshall.
    4. Kinsey in his fourth year at Marshall.
    5. OAK in his second year at Marshall
    6. Early in his second year at Marshall.
    7. Goran in his third year at Marshall.

And here is the key point, ALL of these guys have got significant playing time in the past, not just this year. I like Danny, but the youth card is a bs excuse for any coach, even young teams improve. He needs to man up and admit his coaching has been piss poor this year.
    Exactly

Amen.  The point he is making is so wildly off base (and not even a real thing that matters in modern college basketball) that he should be fired JUST for peddling that BS.

  • Well. back at it Thursday versus FIU at the CAM where we are barely above .500 this year.  Little in the way of a home court advantage for this Herd team.  Probably one of our last chances for another win or two this season.  Equally terrible UTSA and Southern Miss also remain on our schedule so we have an outside shot for 10 wins this season!  20+ loss season all but guaranteed, folks.  But, not to worry, Herd Fans, cause according to Danny, "we're YOUNG"!!

  • So "We're young" has replaced "We don't know how to win" which replaced "It's on me."

Should have stuck with the first one coach.  You've gone from recognizing the problem to making excuses for the problem.

  • Beyers with the minutes some have been clamouring for and he goes 1-7. Goran I guess is getting minutes due to their big, but what's the point if he's so bad at defense. Might as well had Braun guarding their Center. We seem to only be able to get 2 guys playing any semblance of offense per night, if you want to call it that.

Dan was really getting an earful from the (small) student section tonight. Probably added to his frustration. One positive is this is the second post game presser that Dan has said we need to hit the transfer portal. Little late on that one Dan. Ugh.

Unfortunately I can't keep myself from tuning into the next one...

Ouch! This confirms we are the one of the worse, if not the worse shooting team in all of college hoops, OUCH AGAIN! Our main problem is shooting to quick of a release our players are not in the NBA and we're shooting without any confidence.

Marshall entered today?s debacle 345th in 3-point percentage. Today, the Herd is 3-of-23. Can we agree that 22 feet, 1.75 inches is beyond this team?s range?

  • Dan lost me when he started blaming the players.  It shows you two things: 1) He has no idea of how to fix it and 2) He does not have the relationship with the players to motivate them.  No player worth a darn is going to play hard when the coach backs the bus over them.

  • i was embarrassed and i was in my own living room.  my beer was staring me down and i swear it laughed at me for being re-faced.  i only had two beers, so no, i was not buzzed.  just embarrassed as hell.

thanks to Taylor and Killen for giving what they could.   the highlight of the game was Corny having a pulse and fiving players as they came off the floor during a time out.

    we're young, that's all

Oh, I guess it would be considered "heartless" and "piling" on if one was to point out, both generally and personally to Danny, that the big center for Charlotte was a TRUE FRESHMAN, I believe, from Egypt!

Someone needs to explain to Danny the difference between "young players" and "young players with TALENT".  That concept, obviously, is way, way over his head.  I don't give a darn how many years that Goran, Byers, George, Dillon, Collins, Sarenac, etc., etc., have been in our program, how old they are, etc.  The fact is that their talent level is such that additional years in the program is not going to result in any significant uptick in the overall caliber of their play!  We've seen already too much of that among the several non-contributors that we have who've been at MU for 3 years.  Just not gonna happen!

When Greg White was MU's head coach he recruited as many guys from the 304 as Danny as.  The difference:  when guys didn't "pan out" with the HERD, White had the judgment and intestinal fortitude to "encourage" them to take their talents "elsewhere".  Remember guys like Fernando Ibanez, from Whelling, I believe, Oak Hill's Rommel "Stuff Lynch, Tink Brown from Beckley?  All recruited by Greg White to MU.  All from West Virginia and all ended up playing elsewhere, primarily in the West Virginia Conference!

Unlike White, old, stubborn D'Antoni, can't pull the trigger, jettison some of his many recruiting misses, and send some of them elsewhere, probably to D2 schools where they've belonged all along.  His stubbornness and ego just won't let Danny do what needs done, and the Marshall's basketball program suffers and is worse overall for it!

Could you tell what they were saying?  I heard beyers & goran being taunted pretty hard.

I was on the other side of the arena, but it seemed like they were just generally mocking Dan's complaints to the ref. Don't think it was anything nasty, just lots of it and probably no more than 15ft away, so very easy for Dan to hear every bit of it.

Reminded me that I wish we'd move our student section at home.

  • In the first half after about 6 minutes of play, Herd was up 9-7.  Then, I believe UNCC went on a 14-2 or 16-2 run.  Anyone recall whether Danny called a time out during the 49ers run?  Or did he basically just sit/stand there stupefied like he did during ODU's long run on Thursday night?

    DD took 1 @ 12-9.

But while on their run, I guess CLT got tired of waiting for DD to take 1, so they called 1 of their own @ 31-17 to cool themselves off a little. 😆😆😆

Dan called a time out after UNCC scored 5 straight points.

  • Dan from his comments will be our coach next year.  Also clear is that he is not going to change anything as he said our style of play works as evidence by his comments we won a tournament game this way.

Unless he gets a couple of marksmen from the portal we will not be much better.  Gets very old him talking about the portal and other teams being veteran.  Funniest part of the presser was him expecting college players to be 23 years old and that a 20 year old is young.
