  • Word has it that J. BEILEIN will be the next coach at UVA. His wife hates Morgantown, WVA, and they are uping the ante quite a bit, meaning UVA). If he coaches at WVU next year his announced salary will be either a lie, or he will have had a lobotomy.

    GO THUNDERINGHERD!

  • I don't blame her for hating Morgantown, fire insurance is outrageous and the goofy football coach keeps hitting on her.

  • Seriously,  who would want to live in Morganhole?!!    I have been there 2 times in my life and that place is a dump compared to Huntington.  It is all on a mountain side!!!     No flat surface in the damn town!   Hated it and never had any desire to go there.

  • Just 1 problem with it though....... His son is a SR next season, if his son were a SR this season. I would see it. Beiline will be a HOT coach and be able to pick and choose where he wants to go. Beiline stays at WVU 1-2 more seasons.

  • That all depends upon the offer, the University, and the amount of money that is offered in his new contract.

  • If UVA offers the job to him and the salary is close to what the media is reporting; it will be goodbye to  WVU.

  • 1. Money does not drive him (but WVU will come up with more $$$)
    2. His family is very important (meaning he will stay with his son one more year)
The word I here is the job he really wants is Syracuse!

  • Belein will be at WVU for a long time. A salary package is forthcoming. His son has another year too. No other MAJOR school wanted him before WVU gave him a chance. Therefore, I think he will have a loyalty issue and stay also. UVA????? Thats a step down NOT even a lateral move. Go down to a mediocre ACC team after taking a Big East team this far is ludicrous. What happened to the last UVA coach?

    John Belein  :-D

  • He most likely will be in VA next year.  Patrick is a senior but last time I checked there are a lot of college seniors that don't have their Dad in school with them.  And the Mounties won't be able to match what they will at UVA.

I don't think it is reasonable for schools to expect a lot of loyalty when they don't show any.  They complain like it is the end of the world when a coach leaves for greener pastures.  But have one bad year and it is "you're out of here".  I think all colleges could get a little loyalty when they start showing some.

  • WVU will show the loyalty with a new long term contract.Belein is going nowhere--mark it down.
Myabe if Marcum had shown some loyalty, Mike D'Antoni would have some basketball fever at MU like we had when he played.Instead , Marcum hires a guy Georgia fired and look at the results.

  • Yes, you read that right. UVA is a Major step down from WVU. Do you see UVA still playing? Is UVA in the Big East? Did they beat Wake?  8-)

  • No, they aren't still playing, but the last 50 years I'd bet they were playing longer than wvu 40 of them.   I know you're a bit partial to wvu, but no way they are on a level near UVA in terms of exposure, support, and success.

Loyalty is nothing in Collage basketball, jobs are like changing pants. Unless you get and prove yourself at Kentucky, Duke, UCLA, Louiville and other highly soght after basketball jobs. Others its come and go, I look for Beiline to Pick n Choose where he wants to go. But as I said 1-2 more yrs at WVU.

  • hey marcbuff,
send your post about WVU being better than UVA to Billy Packer. Would love to see Packer read it right before game time; Billy 'ACC Homer' Packer chokes and falls on the floor as the ref throws the ball up for tipoff.

Hos does packer get away with his overboard pro ACC ramblings during the telecasts???
