  • I don't know how to phrase this question, Cole was scout player of the year, but isn't the scout QB at least the 4th string Quarterback?  Because QB1, 2 & 3 have to be ready to play?  Zamora was the 3rd string

I'd say the scout QB is whichever gives you the best look consistently and who can remember the offense of the other teams.

The benefit is consistent reps in live action against what amounted to a top 15 defense nationally.

  • Francher is cool under pressure and plays smart. However, his throwing mechanics are horrible. He throws the football like you throw a baseball - more outside the shoulder and from a lot lower position than you should throw a football. This throwing motion results in la lack of accuracy and blocked passes. A proper football throwing motion is over the shoulder - gets the ball higher and is thrown on a more direct, repeatable motion that results in much better accuracy.

Hopefully Trickett works with Francher all this off season - and/or Marshall sends him to a quarterback camp where someone in the know can help him with his throwing mechanics.

I haven't looked back recently but I think I remember seeing some correction in his throwing motion the final two games. He didn't have passes tipped against GS and GSU. I think he did a better job getting on top of the ball in those games.

But how would you expect the 3rd string to learn our gameplan offense and learn the visiting team's offense at the same time?
