  • The schedule hasn't been great, but if you know going into the season that you are going to have to rely heavily on a lot of freshmen in the rotation and a newcomer to the team, then you have to have a schedule where the team can develop. My only real problem (and this is probably with Spears more than D'Antoni) is scheduling a D2 opponent. It never can count in your RPI or ratings. I understand that scheduling snafus come up like the season we had to schedule Alice Lloyd and Rio Grande in the same season under Herrion due to some changes in C-USA that were upcoming. But I look forward to the day when we don't schedule D2/NAIA opponents. I like having at least one power conference team on the schedule. I think you learn a lot more about your team by playing an Indiana, Virginia or Maryland than you do Glenville State.

  • No way you go any deeper than 8. We start going 9-10 and you are bringing back the guys that went 12-21 last year. Danny is going to use Conner to relieve Curfman and Taylor if needed. Fricks is going to play and Goran when needed. Toussaint had his chance and Goran stepped up last night and will get those 6-8 minutes now.

I don?t mean we have to play 10-11 guys. We just need some additional guard play. Andy needs more rest. We saw how tired he was in Greensboro.  He needs some relief every game. The other three rotating is proving well. Just need an additional guard to get some minutes.

The thing nobody is thinking about is what happens when injuries happen. They will happen and if we have nobody getting some time then we go back to the inexperience excuse and while it would be true?we could avoid that by getting someone some minutes.  We shouldn?t over do it but somebody needs to provide some minutes at guard. Otherwise I agree with you on not wanting to go deep into the bench.

Danny has already said Conner will provide that relief at guard. Curfman is already sharing PG duties now and Andy can get a breather at any time with Conner at the 2 and Kinsey at the 3. But if people think on top of Fricks and Conner he is going to start playing Goran, Early and or Braun all into the lineup, it isn't happening. 8 deep is going to be about it except for tomorrow night and everyone should see action.

  • I was thinking about rest for Andy after the UNCG game. I told my wife they need to sit him and thought, just like Bust said, that Connor could come in for him for a few minutes. Then, when you bring Andy back in, sit Cam or Tavion for a few minutes and then put one of them back in for Jacob etc. I really thought that David Early would be a good fit for Marshall. From what I've read from those who go to practice, he just isn't getting it done. I may have read wrong on that, so please correct me if needed.

  • Toledo would be a top 4 team in the Sun Belt.

Well, they were the MAC champs last year, IIRC.  Picked 2nd this season behind Kent.

  • Of course Coach DD deserves credit for the team having success.  The schedule is weak and should not have been so weak but it is easy to see the team has improved in all areas.  The defense is much better, shooting better and the guys play well together.  DD has to find some guard play on the bench.  We saw what happened down in Greensboro. There are going to be games where we don?t shoot well and make some mistakes?I just thought in that game we looked very tired and reverted back to mistakes of prior years.

I worry how we will be in the sun belt tournament playing consecutively without rest.

It was nice to see them bounce back after the loss in Greensboro.
Keep in mind that with the SBC tournament format, at the very worst you would only play 3 days in a row. Unlike the possible four in CUSA
