The floor looks much better in person than those first pictures.

  • Either Mark Martin or Bob Bowen said the footprints are back on tonight's broadcast, but there was no close-up offered as proof.

Of course one of them said O'Binna had caused a Toledo turnover by scraping the ball off of a driving Toledo players knee but it was clearly Goran that did that. I've adopted Goran until Bust gets off his back. Assist on a corner trey by Taylor, a steal, a bucket, that turnover caused, and a blocked shot - all in the first half.

Kudos to Danny for bringing Goran on as rest for Handlogten (over Toussaint) the last couple of games. Goran making the most of his chance this year - very aggressive like someone posted.

They had a removable  set on the floor for the contest.

I believe that Spears has something special to reveal new footprints. I think it will  involve Bruce himself being there.

He could have avoided all the gruff if he had simply said something is planned for the App St game later this month. Marshall is horrid at communication; always has been.

  • Got to admit that the floor looks really good on TV; perhaps with the exception of the lanes.  Black borders do bring out the court, and the new, lighter, wood grain color is flourishing with the lights on it.

Only got a few glances of the tarps/coverings in the upper deck; liked the fact that from what I saw it has Marshall University or something to that extent printed on it; with OUR REAL KELLY GREEN. (had to do that)

Actually thinking about driving in tomorrow to watch the bowl game at the CAM; just would hate to drive up there and be 2 of 10 people... ; then maybe stay for the Glenville game, just to support the team once more before their Christmas break.

  • Everyone has an opinion. But mine is this is by far the best looking floor we have ever had and it's not even close. I honestly couldn't stop looking at it because I was so impressed. And looking up at the Jumbotron which is like looking at TV, it looked amazing. Very proud of what they have done. Some of us were talking, if they could put chairbacks in HerdHeaven and also behind the baskets and do it all in bright Kelly green, the Cam would look darn good. It would probably make capacity around 7500 and that would be perfect and a really nice looking arena.

  • Ignoring the color argument for a minute. I wish someone would have at least realized "Marshall" on the baseline would be obstructed and read "MAR  ALL" before going with that design. 🤦🏻‍♂️

  • The black pops on TV much better than the Kelly Green did. I'll be honest, the Cam is underrated based on how many Marshall fans hate on it. It's not perfect, but just a few things could really make it a great arena for years to come.

  • I think the arena looks good for being 41 years old. Within the actual arena, it's a nice facility. Now at 5500 seats, it's gonna be an intimate setting. If we need more seats based on attendance/demand, they can always take the tarps off. New floor looks awesome.
It's up to b'ball to keep winning and drive attendance upwards.

Biggest project now - get the students to attend in large numbers and be active. jmo

Well, if 5500 is the plan going forward, then we can expect more "who dat" type foes coming into the CAM during our OOC play.  The kinds of teams that certainly don't get the pulses up among our mostly geriatric fan base.  So why would ANYONE expect that among our younger, generally, student body, that there would be anything but a tepid, very lukewarm reaction to MU basketball, or to personally watch the same!!  3,000 or so fans usually, maybe 4,000 and change will be the new norm for HERD basketball.

  • Actually Skeeter Roberts blocked a shot that went to Bruce and he turned and heaved it length of the floor.
Invite Skeeter Roberts back too.  Skeeter was a great jumper.

Who said that was the plan going forward? They can be removed as needed. And hopefully the next phase will be handrails and chairbacks up there. I expect crowds to now grow since football season is over and Christmas will be behind us. Plus we are 11-2 and excitement is building with 5 teams coming in over the next five games that should bring some excitement. App St just lost on a last second shot at Wake Forest. We have two of the best teams in the SB, JMU and S Miss plus CC and old rival ODU. We keep winning and the crowds will swell from here.

Great point...and it's not really an opinion, that's a fact.

Since I was in school the students have never shown up unless it's a big name opponent or a Donnie Jones revenge game. I think the seating for students is partially to blame, unless things have changed. You either sit in the corner and feel distant or sit in a tiny high school looking bleacher with like 20 people around you.

It's odd. What else do you have to do midweek at 7pm. It fits in perfectly between class and going to the bars.

  • Again, biggest issue now is, most of these tickets are sold, and people not attending. The arena will look empty no matter what now. We used to get some excitement going and a lot of people would be up in herd heaven, not anymore. There will be almost entire chair back sections 70% empty because of sold tickets and they'll be telling people at the ticket window it's sold out. This may happen this year if this team keeps winning.

70% empty? Don't think I've ever seen that. That would mean only about 1600 actually there. Last night was the worst because of so many that went to the bowl and it being Glenville. But most games the chairbacks have been about 70% full. Which means actual around 3500-4000. Now everything turns to basketball and the Hollidays will be over with an 11-2 record. I expect around 4500-5000 for Appy and if we go on a long winning streak they may have to take off a section of tarp. Those seats sold to business that sometimes are empty will also start filling up with more winning as their employees will start wanting those tickets.

  • We sat in bleachers at the Field House after going in before classes early and standing in line for a long time just to get a ticket.
    Winning cures all.

I hope D'Antoni is seeing what good recruiting does. We wasted several seasons trying to coach up instead of recruiting more talent. He wins when he's got the talent.
