Update:

Nine people were hurt when the press box at the school?s softball field partially collapsed during a game around 1:30 p.m.

?There were three adults and six students who required medical treatment,? Wayne County Superintendent Todd Alexander told MetroNews. ?Four kids were in the press box with an adult and there were two adults and a student underneath when the floor fell out,?

The students injured were all players for Wayne Middle School.  According to Alexander they were not playing in the game, but were watching two other teams competing in a county wide Middle School softball tournament.

Alexander, speaking from the hospital, said it appeared all victims would be released with the exception of one student who will be kept overnight for observation.

?Thankfully, there are no life threatening injuries  This turned out about as well as could be expected in a situation like this,? he said.
