  • . . . . if not the FIRST Bowl Projections are just out.  Veteran writer Jerry Palm of CBSsports.com has released his projected teams to fill both all the Bowl and Playoff slots for the 2023 college football season.

First, Palm picks Boise to fill the G5 slot in the New Year's Bowl, this year the Fiesta, where he pits BSU against Southern Cal.

As for Marshall, and other SBC teams, here goes:

Dec. 16 - - New Orleans Bowl:  Liberty v. Louisiana

Dec. 16 - - Cure Bowl:  Marshall v. North Texas (Orlando, FL  3:00 pm)

Dec. 18 - - Myrtle Beach Bowl:  Troy v. Toledo

Dec. 21 - - Boca Raton Bowl:  UConn v. Coastal Carolina

Dec. 22 - - Gasparilla Bowl (Tampa):  Duke v. South Alabama

Dec. 23 - - Camellia Bowl (Montgomery, AL):  ECU v. JMU

Dec. 23 - - Armed Forces Bowl (Ft. Worth, TX):  UCF v. Appy State

Dec. 23 - - 68 Ventures Bowl (Mobile, AL):  Middle Tenn. v. Georgia Southern

There it is folks.  Set "in stone" here on August 11, 2023.

Agree. I have much higher expectations than Ohio or North Texas. Cure Bowl in Orlando is an ok destination and drivable to East and west coast beaches after the game.

Neither team mentioned excites me whatsoever.

  • I really hope it's not a current or former C-USA team. I'm done with that group.

The Herd is on ESPN now and definitely has the schedule both in and out of conference to get a halfway decent bowl. Huff needs to make that happen.

  • Marshall is in the position or should be in the position each year to be at minimum a top 5 G5 program.
The standard should be top 3.
IMO, if MU can be a top 3, the bowl game and match up would be more attractive. (Should be)

Let's take for example last year, Myrtle Bowl against UConn. When you lose to BG and a few conference games - it will cost you and you'll get matched up with well, UConn.

We didn't handle UConn like I thought we would. I actually was getting a little worried at one point. Bowl games, though I enjoy them, are weird.
