First time since 2011.

1-0 over High Point. HP picked third in their league. I was wrong in another thread, MU picked 9th in SB.

Bailey Fischer with a rocket on a free kick just outside box.

MU GK solid again. Two grade A saves.  She was good as a FR last year but looks to me to have shed a little weight and is more athletic.  MU had more overall good chances in a match that was pretty even throughout. HP played a player down after a red card that set up the free kick that Bailey scored on. I didn't think it should have been a red.

I think it's time we start to make #14 Bailey Fisher a well known name in the Herd community.  She's a sophomore from Hurricane, and she's significantly impacted games this year.

I thought the red card was deserved.  The HP defender lowered her shoulder on a clear unabated opportunity on goal, so that's a red.

The team's passing completion percentage has to be abysmal.  In both the Morehead and High Point games, our first half passing accuracy has been very poor.  We got an early goal coming out of halftime in both games that gave us the initiative, but I would be surprised if this team won't be punished for its poor possession as the schedule strengthens.

I was watching the Reds, the golf tourney, and the women's game. So I had the sound turned down. I thought the Red was for taunting, the HP player dropped the ball on our players belly when she was on the ground.  Didn't see a foul worthy of a Red myself.

I thought the passing was much better this game vs Morehead St. Although, in general, thought they got way too sloppy overall after the goal.

Have been impressed with Ada Tempert. She was all league at her former college. I would guess she came here due to Forensics program. That was her undergrad major. Soph Curry looked good off bench as well. Overall more experience and depth. As I said, Morehead and HP both picked third in their league and we were picked #9 so it's a good start. Morehead beat Detroit Mercy on road today 5-2. The team picked last in SB, Troy, has a new coach and they upset Lipscomb on road in their first game who was picked to win their league.  He had a good record at a lower division school. Swan's team might be better as a team this year after losing two top scorers/shooters. Seemed last year a lot of other players were standing around.
