  • Now tell me it wasn't a better result to have been chosen for the AAC.............

but then I don't understand why they wouldn't just change the name to the NEW AAC, it fits better than the name PAC 12

  • No offense to the OP, but I follow realignment pretty close and this link to a random website that is quoting some random dude on Twitter. Maybe it happens, but I highly doubt it.

I think it's more likely that the Stanford and Cals Hail Mary attempt to get into the ACC fails, and the PAC4 are forced to rebuild with select AAC and MWC teams over the next 2 years. Whether they backfill with the best of the rest from the AAC/MWC or just straight up merge with the AAC like the Twitter guy is saying, it just strengthens a G5 conference that we will have to compete with for a CFP spot.

With that said, I'm to the point where I no longer cheer for bad things to happen to other conferences. We don't need anyone else to fail for the SBC to succeed. It's up to all our programs in this conference keep elevating and raising the profile of the league. The SBC has certainly trending the right direction over the past few years.

  • That "report" came from an Oregon State fan on Twitter lol.

And he leaves out Navy as apart of the new conference...

  • I don't follow the realignment posts a lot, but I agree this guy is not a reliable source. No offense to OP.

"No offense but..." & "God bless his heart but..." gives license to say that his first born baby is the ugliest human in history.

That said, the remaining shrapnel of the CUSA made a similar move as was purposed to remain a BCS conference, so it's in the realm of possibilty. However, I don't see Stanford as being onboard with an association of of MWC and/or AAC schools.

yeah, IF that goes down, there's no way that's a power conference.  imagine being ECU & USF flying your teams to CA for conference games & only getting G5 respect.  that's the reality.

  • Yeah, I'm with those who follow realignment closely and this site and the Twitter "source" isn't reliable (no offense to the OP). Several posters over on Sun Belt BBS have indicated the "source" guy throws out...umm...information... hoping it sticks. Seems I remember, in one of the threads, it was stated that he's a closet AAC fan and is hoping his tweets somehow influence what decisions are being made.

  • They can have it. Those schools will run huge deficits trying to keep up and pay travel costs.

The AAC is a glorified version of CUSA. As for the PAC 12, it will never be the same without USC, UCLA, Oregon, Arizona, and Arizona State. The PAC 12 is history.

It's history as a power 5 might be over, though that's not certain.
There's a pretty good possibility that the conference will remain, zombie-like, similar to C-Judy or, for that matter, what the current AAC is.
