  • Today, I received the replica of the commemorative brick I ordered in memory of my parents.  I can't wait to see its placement in the new stadium.

  • Technically the name is Jack Cook Field given by the MU BOG. I know that one former player is matching up to $500,000 in kind donations for that name. I still wonder if that is enough money or will MU sell the naming rights to the MU baseball stadium with the Jack Cook Field?

I don't have first hand knowledge, but its fair to speculate that your scenario is what MU is hoping for.

Well, that is how we handled the football stadium. A lot of colleges name the field after someone and then sell the naming rights to the stadium to a business. I would hope MU would sell the naming for the stadium for a period of time and then put it out to bid at a latter date to generate a continuous revenue flow. I realized the baseball stadium will not generate the large amount of money a basketball arena or football stadium.

True, although Charleston has found a way to have other events at GoMart Park (nee' Appalachian Power Park) like boxing matches and concerts.

  • Beats the Hell out of Eastern Heights, the Kennedy Center, Beckley and Charleston.  St. Clouds did have some character to it.  What a waste of time, money and energy over the years.  But I do hope Coach Cook is happy in Heaven!

  • So, when are they going to complete the softball lighting system?  They got the base and bottom section of the light poles in.  Need to finish them off.  Would like to see them in and working by October when The Herd has their fall series of games at The Dot.  Would love to see a night game this fall.

Over a decade ago, MU had a nice time lapse photography setup in place showing the progress of construction going on at the Byrd Biotech facility I believe it was, located on the same side of Third Avenue as the baseball facility construction.  Yet today, in late 2023, someone "in charge" can't manage to put a similar setup in place showing progress on the new baseball facility.

Can only guess that they put a mentally slow doofus in a toboggan in charge of the photography apparatus at the stadium construction site!!

One of the electrical people from Dixon Electric that is doing the work said it will be a much more difficult job than at the baseball field due to there already being so many electrical and other wires in the area. They will need to maneuver the poles around them.
