  • Watched the replay of the University of Tennessee vs. Tennessee Tech game last night (I'm a UT alum, so I love the Vols).  I was surprised when I saw David Early out there for TTU.  He played pretty well, I thought, in spite of the fact that his team was totally overmatched (they only scored 12 points in the first half and finished with a whopping 42 points).

I was sorry that things didn't work out for him at Marshall;  he could have helped out the Herd this year.  Best of luck to him.

He was a bit slow but not a bad player. I don't care what anyone says, I don't think dan liked him based on his playing time here.

  • He had some very good appearances his freshman year, when he was  'too heavy'.

It seemed to me that when he slimmed down, he had much less of a physical presence which was missed.

  • I coached Josiah Davis/Brandon Brown in HS. He starts alongside Early at TTU. Young team that should only get better. TTU and Coach Pelphrey have several players on the roster from this area. (Davis (TVCS), Brown (TVCS), Beya (TVCS), Early (Logan) and Sammons (Pikeville).

Early can play, just trying to find his role with that team (as most of the guys are).

  • Marshall players need to prove they can contribute while they're here.  if they aren't satisfied as practice squad players then they'll move on, like Early and Dillon.  those who don't mind mostly practice squad status and aren't forced out for any reason by the coach, then good for them.

IIRC, Early was dismissed for disciplinary reasons.

  • Too bad for the TTU program that their coach couldn't have lured Marko to his program also.  Based on his "body" of work over several seasons at MU I'm sure he could have been an immense help to their program.

And from MU's standpoint, I'm sure that Coach D. could have made good use of the extra scholarship, no doubt to bring in another "project" recruit whom he could develop over the next 3 . . . 4 . . . years!!!
