  • IDK if they were organized or not, but back when I attended a bunch of USC games, there were chants of 'Fire Scott' and 'Goodbye Sparky'.

If this game goes like the previous 2, we'll probably hear a spontaneous chant, no organization required.

Certainly chants happen. But calls for a protest seem a little extreme. But, hey, they can knock themselves out , do it and look like ass holes. jmho

  • I am so proud of the soccer team and I have a garden flag in my front yard with a soccer Natty flag, that being said, you have to go way deep into any web site to find any information on college soccer.  We get more publicity at 4-5 beating Georgia Southern Sat night than us winning smithing Natty in soccer.  There is not a return on your money with soccer other than pride and that is also OK.

Well our enrollment is up and the soccer success is plastered all over the admissions and other MU publications. So I wouldn't say it has no impact just because it's not talked about on Sportscenter / mass media etc.  Although soccer has a ESPN top 10 play this season (Sordo bicycle kick). And overall college soccer and soccer in general are becoming more popular across the country while attendance is down across most of college football. Advertising at soccer has also increased and i'm willing to bet that viewing on ESPN+ has jumped as well. All I know is our soccer team is playing front of a crowd Sunday that is more than double it's capacity and could probably sell twice that many tix if capacity allowed while football is selling tix for $11 and our two "top" sports have had to tarp a significant number of their seats.
"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • Let's see here.

Someone says "show me one", then he says everyone does it, fails to show even one, calls us names, then cuts and runs.

    Who's the real pussy here?

Yep. Maybe recess was over and he had to go back to class.

My bad it's never happened before. Y'all are right. We better not do it guys. We'd be the first to EVER do it (of 858 college football programs spanning 5 divisions) in the 154 year history of college football. We might hurt a millionaire?s feelings and then no one will ever coach at Marshall again. Good point.

Don't read this he was lying, you can't trust this guy...

I consider myself educated now knowing a fanbase has NEVER chanted anything derogatory towards a coach during a game in the history of sports worldwide. Dang. Y'all outsmarted me again. You win some you lose some I guess. I'll take the L. Y'all are just a wealth of information and enlightenment. If only I could have done that 4 second google search or gave you some examples of what I've seen in person or on TV...I could have been vindicated. Oh well. You got me!

Don't you dare make sense on here. You are exactly right.

The most excited I think I've ever been watching Marshall sports was the goal to win the NC. With that said, there is a reason most schools in the SEC who have 10's of millions to literally waste (and do waste) won't throw 50k down the drain for soccer. Zero return on investment. Zero. 14 NC championships in soccer isn't worth the exposure of 1 week in the top 25 in basketball or football. We were #1 in the soccer polls quite a few weeks this year...and guess what...ESPN never told anyone. LOL

  • I watch all MU sports that I can; and have for 40 plus years now. I can say easily I get more excitement and satisfaction watching our men's soccer than any other sport currently, not so much because they win but because of the effort, enthusiasm and how the coaches conduct themselves and manage the game. They set the bar that other sports should aspire to be like. Certainly more fun than watching football. See all at the Joan on Saturday and the Vet on Sunday.

  • I remember this same guy saying everyone should wear Snyder brand potato chip bags on their heads to games to protest Mark Snyder back in the day.😂

ESPN doesn't mention most college sports unless it involves 10-15 of the biggest programs or members  of the SEC, B10 or ACC

  • Biggest thing I remember is the student section at Fairfield singing "Goodbye, Sonny" in the early 80s.
"On rainy days, the early justices would enliven case conferences with wine. On other days, even if the sun was shining, Chief Justice John Marshall would order wine anyway, saying, 'Our jurisdiction is so vast that it must be raining somewhere.' "

  • I have an idea for a chant. One side can say We Are and the other can say Marshall. That'll show em!
